  • Used tissues and bodily fluids

Don't you just hate it when people hand you used tissues covered with bodily fluids? A man tried to hand me one a couple of days ago on a flight to Belfast. I said 'just put it in your sick bag and hand it to me.' I had to tell him twice and he rolled his eyes at me and said how fussy I was to the passenger sat next to him.

Stupid Passenger: Can I give this to you? (a used nappy)
Me: No, you need to dispose of it in the loo
SP: But it's all the way over there....
    No longer a flight atttendant!

Or, as what we do at my store, grab the trash can underneath the register and hold it out for them to throw it away themselves.

Even though we keep hand sanitizer at our registers, I still don't want to touch anything that's been on another person.

Atleast it wasn't a dirty diaper left in a shopping cart. To this day I feel like curling into a ball and crying in a corner when I remember that...

Yet another reason I'm glad I don't work face-to-face with customers anymore. I used to get this a lot at Kroger though. I'd just pull my wastebasket out from under my register and let them toss it out themselves.

          Yuck.

Or in this case, IN another person.

At a previous job, I had to run a presentation in a theatre. I would do a ten minute introduction, then lead them into the main theatre. The main theatre was pretty dim, even with the lights on.

One time in the introduction room, I noticed a woman cleaning her sweaty feet with a paper napkin. She kindly left the paper napkin on the bench

I always had to clean the main theatre after the show. People usually left pamphlets or left over food containers (despite the no-food thing). Anyways, I was cleaning up one aisle and came across an empty fries container and a napkin that appeared to be covered in ketchup (which would make sense). When I got to the well-lit introduction room to throw away the garbage, I discovered that it was ketchup, but blood! Not cool!

I worked at a drive-thru coffee place and people would always try to hand their trash to us at the window.... um no. Especially when it was fast food from another place or something - yeah 'cause we want the entire store to smell of french fries or your left over tacos....... We even put a trash can a couple feet away from the window and people would still leave trash all over the place......

I also loved when people would empty the content of their to-go cups from somewhere else right by the window... yeah thanks.

Gah! That's bad enough when a mother has a child blow their nose at the check out line in a grocery or department store, then hands the snot filled tissue to the cashier to dispose of. Why don't they do that in the trash bins outside of the store?

I actually did that a couple of weeks back, I bought some nuggets and a couple of drinks at the Macca's drive through and asked if they could take my previous drink cup (which was from McDonalds as well so I'm not mixing brands) as I'd run out of cup holders. I did feel pretty stupid asking but you're right its a pretty sc thing to do.

It's a chronic thing at my counter, but then, I get all the sickies. What I hate is when they stuff their nasty used tissues in a display for us to find later, and then we do have to actually handle it somehow, instead of just holding up the trash can for them to toss it into.

I swear, some people have no concept of being sanitary.

You know, if they were more sanitary, some of them wouldn't even have to be there....

You're lucky to find tissues. I wish I found tissues.

No, what I get is month old shrimps hidden under my bread rack.
