I wanted to grab a bite to eat on the way home yesterday so, I stopped by the McD's at the corner of Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood. This intersection is Hollywood's main center of tourism. It's right by Dolby Theater where the Oscars and big movie premieres take place.
Anyways, yesterday was a regular day. I was pretty hungry from coming back from Long Beach and Hollywood is short distance from where I live. Anyways I park in the H&H parking structure and head over to McD's.
The line was really short but the dining area was fairly occupied. One lady ahead of me and one guy who had just went up to the counter. Some stocky muscular guy walks up beside me while I was talking to my dad on my phone. I knew something was up with him cause he didn't get in line but decided to stand right next to me. He looks at me I nod he nods and I think that's that. He then looks at the lady ahead of me who was next. Well this guy was a MAJOR SC. The guy at the counter calls for the next customer and SC disregards the lady ahead of me and just walks up and cuts the line.
At this point I was trying to get my dad off the phone, but he was persistent in trying to figure out what was going on. I didn't want to explain the situation with the SC in earshot. I asked my dad to hold on and asked the lady ahead of me was she indeed standing in line or looking at the menu. She said no she was waiting in line. Then she asked me did that guy just cut in front of both of us and I said yes.
The lady tells me she's going to say something about it.
Lady, SC, Me, Cashier (meek looking guy) -
Lady to cashier - Actually I was next but this man just cut me and the guy standing back there (meaning me).
Cashier - *Blank stare* *I think he knew but was too scared to say anything in agreement*
SC - Well EXCUSE me lady!
Lady - You can go on ahead though since you already cut us and started ordering.
SC - No, no, no you have something to say to me say it!
Lady - I just did.
SC - Who are you talking to lady?
Lady - *She turns her head at him, looks him up and down and says* You.
SC steps backwards jaw jacking.
Lady - Whatever just wait your turn.
SC - You know what it's cool imma be a man about it. *Blah, blah, blah of other stuff I don't remember. Just a lot of yelling and making himself look like a complete loudmouth idiot.*
The guy erupted and got heated in literally a matter of seconds. I think either her sarcasm in her choice of words and tone did it or the fact that he was called out did it. He was really yelling so loud his voice sounded like Ving Rhames when he goes on his rants in some of his movies. The guy kinda looked like him too. On a side note he was yelling with "respectable" language rather than cursing her out. He was addressing her as lady, being really snarky and trying to intimidate.
I'm telling my dad at this point I have to go cause a verbal argument has ensued. The guy was bellowing so loud that the entire restaurant quieted down and all eyes were on the argument. My dad was having none of it and was telling me I should leave. I was hungry but especially felt guilty because I didn't think the man would erupt like that. I thought maybe he would say something like "my bad" and maybe get in line. Maybe. I didn't want the lady to possibly get hurt. She was a big, mild mannered lady, but I could tell she would speak her mind which she was doing. If cops were needed they're usually just outside somewhere close by since the intersection is a tourist attraction/trap. I decided otherwise and to just leave and go on my way. I feel guilty, which I shouldn't, about speaking up to the lady about our mutual injustice. She was sarcastic, which I am too but me on the other hand would've went up and said it more like "excuse me sir but, there is a line back here" cause the guy looked about 5'8 220 easily of bulk and muscle with almost 100 lbs on me. She on the other hand looked about 5'11-6'0 200lbs herself.
Anyways the SC was doing 99% of the shouting at this lady and she was trying to ignore him as he stood back several feet shouting. At that point he was just shouting stuff and she'd occasionally shout back. All while my dad was telling me to just go somewhere else. I ended up leaving after about a minute and a half or two.
I don't know what happened but as I was walking out you could hear SC from the street yelling. Thinking about it, the guy did kinda look high on something but maintaining whatever drug he was on. It was exasperated by being called out. The thing that clicked in my head to just leave was a story my dad told me years ago. He also reiterated it as I was walking back to the H&H parking lot. It was basically, when you see a fight or argument starting around you to get out of dodge.
His granddad, my great-grandpa was killed in a similar situation back during the early to mid 1900's. He was outside of a bar or something and there was an argument happening around him that he wasn't involved in. He didn't vacate the area quick enough and was killed in the crossfire. I was there for almost 2 mins. I should've left sooner but really did feel guilty about speaking up to the lady about the situation ATM cause she was standing her ground while I was walking away. My dad's pleading with me for the several seconds or so got me to walking away and leaving.
