  • You aren't supposed to do that! (parenting fail)

This was pretty damn stupid. I watched some guy take one of our wheeled baskets and put his kid (about a year old at best) in it. I then step in and tell the dad that he isn't allowed to do that, and that it states as such on our baskets (not big enough to be noticed, unfortunately).

That hasn't been the first that I've seen parents/relatives in question do this. There was a grandfather pulling on of those baskets with a toddler in it, and it fell over with said kid bawling its ass off in produce! I didn't notice that one until the kid fell out, and I decided to approach grandpa and state the freaking obvious.

Why do we have to be the ones to tell these people that it isn't allowed?!

But lifting a kid into a cart and pushing it is TOO HARD and TOO COMPLICATED to do!

When I worked at Value City , we dreaded *Mother's Day because at least 3 kids would be hurt every month from parents not putting their little ones in the carts correctly/paying attention/letting them play with the carts. The carts were a lightweight plastic on a metal frame and the upended easier than most. The best was the 2 kids hurt when the older one (about 8) was popping wheelies with a younger sibling in the cart part, flipped it knocking out the toddler with a great thud and having the cart land on wheelie boy. Mom screamed bloody murder, she was gonna sue blahblahblah. Manager told her A) signs posted said we are not responsible for any damage done by unattended carts or irresponsible use of carts and B) we have it all on video tape so her story of how the cart just 'fell over' was refuted by said video tape and also showed she wasn't near the kids when it happened, but was 2 sections over, stuffing a sweater in her purse. Cops were happy to watch that little piece of video. She did get some shyster attorney to try and sue us, but she didn't get a dime, lost her kids and got a jail sentence for being a repeat offender.

*Mother's Day was what we affectionately called the first of the month when government checks came out.

          Not IMO.

Wow. You don't work for that Hardcore Pawn place, do you? I caught a clip of that on Youtube the other day... their head of security had pocketed a gold chain and a few grand of other jewelry.

                    Whoops!

At the Grocery Store of Awesome, they have these little carts that you can set a handbasket on, and then a child can push it around like a miniature shopping cart.

Is that similar to what the child in the OP was put in?

I've also seen kids sitting on baskets and using them as toys, while their parents do absolutely nothing to stop them. Saw two unsupervised kids playing "bumper cars" with the baskets, while their parents were looking at flowers.

Probably why some of them have shitty wheels and don't work properly (they're crap anyways, imo).
