Well, mic issues aside (it simply boils down to mic quality) an overall good first attempt. A couple of points though:

      1. Lighting. Not as big of an issue on that map because it's supposed to be dark, but Youtube compression has a habit of making videos darker than usual. If you're going for something that's not supposed to be gloomy themed, turn your brightness setting up to daylight to make things easier to see.

      2. Unless you're looking to record a live play for posterity, learn the fine art of editing. A lot of Minecraft stuff is dull as dishwater to watch and knowing when to cut out the dull stuff is essential. It also allows for longer play sessions but less time released between episodes due to editing time.

As a final point, think quality over quantity. There are some absolute horrid people out there who churn out 5-10 videos per day that are just horrid. Better to have a something you're happy with that takes longer to get out then a bunch of stuff out there that practically screams "I only care about money!"

        1. I forgot to turn up my lighting, a big mistake that got me killed several times just cause I couldn't see anything or much of anything till it was right on me. That is something that is going to be fixed.

        2. I know nothing of editing. I will admit that and happily admit it. But we were going to do this as a continuous map play broken into episodes. We did stop recording at one point in ep 2 when for ten minuets we just grew carrots that got lost after the next few deaths.

        3. I make no money. I hope to get better however which is why I posted here to get feedback. I hope to take some if me through the blunders of lookie where you helped me come from.

        4. I so don't know how to fix the mix issues. Should I look into a different mic or is there something I can do to bolster the recording?

I recorded with Bandicam and use Win 8.1

Personality I enjoyed it, but I must confess I find Minecraft dull. The banter of the group was much more enjoyable then the content (for me). I think you did a great job, and really have no pointers. Just make sure to tell the people watching, what they are about to watch. Even if the description has the title in it, you might want to restate it. As soon as I get a video camera, probably going to start making videos myself, so by then you might be able to give ME pointers

Sorry, I was going more for the "halp I know I've done wrong but what" vibe.

But yea we have a good group. Should see use when we play pictionary using the minecraft blocks. I can't do a spider worth anything. :P

            Thanks for the happy vibe.

At the beginning of the video I did notice some feedback issues. That seemed to be fixed by the end of the video however. You might also want to think of an 'permanent introduction'. I hope that makes sense, but if not I will explain what I mean. If you watch some of the more popular game players they tend to have .. gah what is the word I am looking for? Sorry I will have to put links in to describe what I am talking about because my mind has decided that Hawaii is nice, and went there without me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH4E...4AwyIW7Unk_B5Q ... I think it is an.. introduction? The first few seconds is what I am talking about. If you want to brainstorm, I can help with that.

As I watch more of your videos (and I will ), I will probably have more tips. Just remember.. I've never made a youtube video before, and my help will probably be very limited.

Intro's aren't the easiest things for some people. On the minecraft forums I go to most people who are good at making them won't unless you have at least so many subscribers. Many early youtubers when playing by themselves usually just did a fade in with a greeting.

This is a rough un cut vid and one I will admit we did badly on. Honestly it should have been trimmed to where Ginger was doing a countdown. But then I just had to step where Critter broke a block and I swam in lava. O.o

I know we're planning with our next vid for someone to do the introduction. As for a intro clip to announce ourselves each vid I wouldn't know where to begin making one. I know what I do want however.

Your right brainstorming is what this thread is for. Right now I'm mediocre but with nudges I can get better and hopefully get to point where I'm passed about as shares and likes.

Okay...small success! I have done about five multiple little vids to test different settings on my mic. First one was lots and lots of static to the point of hearing neither me or the game. Second was no static but also very low me. Third sounded a lot like that youtube vid. Forth, some static but lots of me. Fifth...very little static and still lots of me plus game sounds.

The group is poised to try a slightly different style map tonight so hopefully there will be a new vid placed on youtube.

Not sure if you are or not, but I'd recommend getting headphones or a headset. That'll fix any feedback problems.

Yea I have a headset. I was just hearing static through them for some reason.

Well I thought I fixed the headset and mic issues but for three hours last night I got to hear about how I was causing so much static and that it was distracting to them.

There are 2-3 different channels I watch where the person or people just fade in with a greeting. These channels are:

-TheRunawayGuys (that's chugga, ProtonJon and NintendoCapriSun). They do this for EVERY video FYI. (speaking of which, watch their playthrough of Wii Party. Chugga's "Russian Elmo" voice is hilarious )

-arglefumph (his LP/walkthroughs are primarily oriented towards the Nancy Drew games but he also does quite a few mystery games and has dabbled elsewhere)

-Chuggaconroy I THINK does the fade-ins, but I can't confirm for sure.

TheJWittz's intros tend to vary. For his playthroughs, I think he does the fade-in, while for just about every single other video he has a nice little intro involving a flash animation of a Pokeball popping up with a Hoppip and him with a first-gen Pokedex. I haven't watched his playthroughs in a while though so I can't confirm.

A fade in greeting works too . Even a 'Hello everybody, I am <intro> and today we are doing <game play>." . However, like I said.. I thought you did a heck of a job as is.

So lets brainstorm here. If something comes up, great, if not then at least you know what you don't want to do .

Here are some questions to get the brainstorming started.

                            1) What all games are you going to cover? Just minecraft, or other things.. even if down the road.

                            2) If other then minecraft, what are your favorite type of games?
                            2.5) Why?

                            3) Going to include what NOT to do? (ie show your mistakes also or not)

                            4) Will you always have people doing things with you (like the minecraft video) or will there be times where you will be playing the game alone? Because the group will have some say in what goes and what doesn't.

                            5) Do you need a sounding board (ie somebody to just bounce ideas off of), cause I will volunteer . Just do not ask a question you do not want a totally honest answer for. ((You also have a place to do that in this thread, so that is good))

That is all I can think of for now.

1 & 2. I'm going to try and do multiple games. A few nights have a posting of minecraft, a night with a old game, a night with Banished, maybe might do South Park. I'm also wanting to do other games but I dunno as if right now.

2.5 I like a variety of games but I'm not sure what all of types I'm going to do.

                              3. I will show my mistakes. If it leads to a bad game ending well if it was to short then there might be a roll back to a save. That would be on a case by case basis.

                              4. No. That's part of what makes this a nervous venture for me.

                              5. Sounding boards and critiques are why I'm here.
