Snobs wanted to work for luxury retail stores

If you would like to be paid to be a snob to customers, apparently luxury retailers want you, according to this article.

It seems that snooty staff who ignore poorly-dressed customers who wanted to be affiliated with the brand make said brand fans pay more to prove that they can afford it.

Just don't be too snobbish, since the effect fades away with time. You also have to be the right kind of snob for that luxury store.

I'm fairly sure that Porsche consciously take the opposite approach here. They know that just because someone is shabbily dressed when they walk in doesn't mean they don't have money - in fact, it may mean that they're rich and/or powerful enough to be eccentric, or too busy to take care of their personal appearance.

I remember back when I was in high school MAD magazine had an article about rich vs. poor. One item sticks out:

When you're poor, you're the town wierdo.
When you're rich, you're the local eccentric.
