  • Killed the Clan.

My iPad has been getting slower and slower, and on multiple occasions, more than in the past, when I'd be using the Facebook app, it would suddenly just revert to the home screen, making me lost my place or the article I was reading on Facebook. It was getting worse and worse, and earlier this morning, this started to happen when I was browsing on the net via Safari as well. And everything I tried to do, I would just keep getting booted back to the home page.

On a whim, I decided to delete the Clash of Clans I had recently added but hadn't really played more than twice, and immediately, everything seemed to be better. Still not perfect, mind you--it's frozen up twice while I was typing this up, but didn't kick me back to the home screen or anything--but definitely a notable I improvement.

Wonder what else I could delete to improve performance.

Facebook. No, seriously. Snarkiness aside, most mobile devices I've seen have significant battery and performance issues with the official client.

Granted, I know Android better than iOS, so it might be better over there...

I have clash, and don't have issues. How often do you power cycle your ipad? I find that every couple of weeks I need to turn mine completely off for a few minutes or I start having issues like you described.

I've considered it, don't get me wrong. There are definitely some huge advantages to accessing Facebook via the browser over the app.

But there are also a lot of advantages for the app. For me, in the end, the app wins, on my iPad somewhat, and on my phone immensely.

Almost never. Perhaps I should do that more often, huh?

That being said, it was not even a small loss, as I accessed Clash twice and then never went back to it, as that type of game bores me. I want more action in my games.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? You would be surprised how much that speeds things up. And delete all your cookies.

Theoretically you shouldn't have to power cycle, or at least not often.

In practice, I've found that giving the machine a 'rest' like that can often help.

My PVR has been running for months, and recently I noticed the Fast Forward function was getting sluggish (anything to do with accessing saved shows to be honest). I literally pulled the plug and when it restarted, everything was back to normal.

No, I haven't. And I have no idea how to do those two things. If you haven't figured it out by now, technologically speaking, I'm pretty much an idiot. So...how do I do those two things on my iPad?

were that true the manufacturers wouldn't recommend it so strongly. My phone notifies me every two weeks that it needs a power cycle.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes
