So... my mother is in the hospital again.

Long story short: went to ER Monday for abdominal pain, pain subsiding because of antibiotics but kidneys not working at 100%. They're holding her so they can make sure her kidneys get with the program.

Wish her luck, OK?

Saw the doctor this morning. He said that the her kidneys are starting to recover a bit but they're still working at about 20% of what they should be...

It's OK, he said they are getting better. That's a positive sign.

And she's awake and feisty as she ever was, so that's a positive.

Keeping fingers crossed, though...

Thank you, everyone. It actually sounds like she'll be able to come home in a day or two, but still needs to see an 'internal specialist' to find out what actually is happening.

If you can, try to get her to drink coconut water every day while she recovers. It's so good for kidney function they did an experiment where they had people who were on dialysis drink it every day, and those people were able to get off dialysis in a few months time.
