  • Screaming Lady

This is a short one, but a relatively WTF one. And it just happened last night. [Background - women's accessory store in an outdoor mall] So me and my closer were just minding out own business putting away shipment, when this lady comes in the door. It's like a quarter till close, which is annoying in the first place but as long as she gets out by 9 it's cool. We lock our doors from the outside anyway so people can still leave but just not come in, which is half the battle - stopping more people from entering the store after close.

But I digress, so she comes in and barrels right past me after I greeted her so I let her go and she disappeared into the store (which is pretty large and echo-y) About three minutes later, I thought I heard someone say, "HELLO?" loudly but couldn't be sure because it sounded like someone answering their cell phone. Then I heard it again, "HELLOOOO?" Still for some reason I thought it was someone on their phone because no one could possibly be that rude and ignorant to just stand in the middle of the store and scream hello, right? Nope, totally wrong. So over the walkie I ask my closer, "Is someone at the register yelling hello?"

She was like, "I heard that too and thought someone was on their phone but let me check." So she walks to the register, no one there. No one in the fitting rooms. We heard it again: "HELLO? HELLO? HELLOOOO???" So she finally walks to the back corner of the store and apparently this lady was standing in the BACK CORNER OF THE STORE completely out of sight screaming hello over and over for someone to come over and serve her. She literally had rudely brushed right past me on the way in so she knew there was an employee toward the front of the store, and she couldn't ask me for what she needed right then and there? So she walked past me, physically brushing me, ignored my query for if she needed assistance, and walked to the back of the store to impatiently scream Hello over and over till someone found her.

Seriously. Who does this? Number one, I had already acknowledged her and I know there was no way she didn't see me because she actually ran into me so it wasn't like she was some poor neglected customer at the back of the store. And number two, seriously, she saw where I was even if she ignored me when I greeted her so B*tch walk your a$$ back up and politely ask me for assistance instead of just standing there way at the back of the store like a petulant child screaming hello, because that's what it was. Petulant and rude.

My closer ended up helping her with what she wanted which was really not urgent enough to be screaming hello repeatedly and apparently she was being a huge pain the ass during the entire transaction. Finally she left and of coursed we WTF'd about her afterward, but come ON. That was totally insulting and so immature. And she wasn't disabled from what I could tell, physically or mentally, (she stormed in the door just fine) she was just being rude on purpose.

Ugh. She probably changes a light bulb by holding it to the socket and demanding the world to revolve around her. Hopefully you won't see that twit again.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

She was so obnoxious, I just couldn't help but laugh after she left. I'm sure she was also the woman who once opened my back door (not at the job I'm at now, at a different one) and screamed, "HELLO?" while I was in the restroom. At that job, I would work 8 hour days by myself with no break and no one to watch the floor so when I had to go, I had to go. Most customers were understanding, but some people would pound on the door even when I'd literally been back there three minutes.

Side note - so glad I do not work at the previous location anymore. I don't have to worry about that ever again at my current job as we always have at least one other person working with us at a time!

I guess some people just need everyone to do everything for them. I wouldn't have minded helping her if she hadn't totally just bowled me over on the way in the door. Some people are just so entitled it astounds me.

I hate when people do that. And they usually stand a good 15 feet away and yell random items out at me while I'm in the middle of another transaction. Bonus points if it's something close by.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

I really hate people like this. They expect great service but also think they can talk to us like crap because they're the customer and we're just mere peons.

Ooh this one is a major bugbear. It annoys me when I see people doing this, like their feet are magically glued to the floor and only the attention of the furthest sales assistant can break that spell.
Add to that she marched straight past you and ignored you, I think I would have been the least helpful person ever

Its so tempting to ask them, "Are you lost, little girl? Do you need me to get your parents?"
