At least the police were friendly.

Moved into a new rental on Wednesday (just me and my partner - no flatmates :-D ). Due to issue we had no power until friday.

We are curled up in bed on our first night there when at 1am we hear "police" and see flashlights in our hallway.

Turns out the person in the flat under our house didn't know anyone was moving in and got worried when he heard footsteps that the previouse tennets hand come back to squat ( he works for a power company and knew the power hadn't be reconnected).

Managed to find our tennecy agreemnt amongst all our boxes and had a good laugh once the cops left but definitely made for an interesting first night.

Wow. I can only imagine what would have happened if you didn't find the lease. Talk about awkward.

I can understand that. I would be worried too if I knew something was suppose to be vacant but was not.

At least you found your lease, and now people know why I am getting mine framed and place in the living room (at least a copy).
