  • A sad day for our house

Had a sad (though not unexpected) day today, as another one of our dogs had to be put to rest. We had lost the first one last year, a Malamute who was about 14 years old, and one of our other dogs was a Malamute mix that was up to about 14.5 years until today. A couple weeks ago she blew out her ACL, and was on pain killers...but since she was too old for surgery, we knew what was coming. Well, a couple days ago she stopped moving around, and barely ate anything...so we knew it was time.

Early this morning, we all said goodbye, then tonight she was taken up to a vet who had known her for 13+ years and put to rest. She was a great dog, a furious marshmallow of slightly neurotic fluff, who would chatter her teeth at you when she wanted you to pet her. She was also a champion of "trash redecoration", and would set up displays of "art" at every opportunity.

Farewell Miska, we will miss you

I think it helps when they know the vet. Especially with dogs - our dog thinks of her vet as extended pack, as near as we can tell.

My sympathy for your loss. May she rest well on the far side, and have fun with all our other friends while she waits for her pack to join her.

I'm so sorry, Khiras. She looks like she was an absolute doll.

I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

An absolutely beautiful furry part of the family. Hope there are lots of piles of interesting things for her to 'redecorate' while she waits for her family to join her. My condolences.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.
