  • I.....QUIT!

Well, recently a relative left me some $$$ that, if I live in a big budget, I don't have to work for a long while! So I gave my notice and QUIT my FT job! I'm still looking for a part time job...in ANOTHER field though. I'm tired of hotels like...I can't even describe.

    Party at my house!

    I'll birng the booze!

And now a (short) list for your reading pleasure.

(EX)HM'S LIST OF EVERYDAY WORDS THAT MAKE ME BARF TO THINK ABOUT NOW THAT THEY DIDN'T WHEN I STARTED:

    5: TOWELS
    4: ELEVATOR
    3: NOISE
    2: PARKING
    1: KEYCARD

Yes the most complaint was about keycards. About 5 times a day, 365 days a year. That's 1825 a year! If I ever have to see one that's been scratched, chewed, broken, muddy again I'll barf. My advice is: Protect that key with YOUR LIFE!!!!! Pretend it's made of crystal. IT'S DELICATE!!! And keep it away from your smartphone!! For @#$@#$ sakes! If only pple did this...complaints would've gone down 50% I estimate.

And parking. If the hotel has no valet...then the GUEST is responsible for their OWN vehicle! So simple, yet...parking complaints were 3 times a day. GO TO A HOTEL THAT HAS VALET IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!! SHEESH!!!

    That's all. ^__________________________^ Thank you.
    Can't reason with the unreasonable.

Congratulations, getting the chance of a new start is great.

Complaints about keycards? I may have bend or otherwise destroyed a keycard in my life, but complain because I did something stupid or clumsy? I will just ask for a new one and apologize for what after all is my fault.

What will you do if you find a great PT job you love? Celebrate by dancing naked under the harvest moon?

That almost necessitates the need for the "thread is worthless without pics" graphic .

              Lucky!

              My advice:

Take a chunk of it, designate it mad money, and spend it impulsively.

Take a chunk, designate it long term investment, and invest it wisely and cautiously. (Risk-averse investments)

Buy a modest house/apartment/whatever and live rent- and mortgage- free.

Do whatever semi-sensible or sensible stuff you want with the rest.
If it were me, I'd take a sizeable chunk and invest it in widely diverse investments; as widely as I could afford. But you're not me. (really?)

              1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
              2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
              3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
              4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

I do agree with Seshats advice. I'm about to get a largeish sum from my divorce and basically its being spent three ways: Clear debts to zero, put away approx 3 years decent income that allows me to 'live' without needing state benefits (currently awaiting disability assessment), and buy a moderate home.

If I had enough I'd put some back into investments but think I might have to settle for an easy access savings account for the 2 years income....
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

Congratulations! Although I'll miss your stories, I'm happier that you won't be in a place that makes you miserable. Have fun, and I wish you lots of luck finding a job in a better field.
