  • Trick trash wonders why she's banned

So we are heading into the slow time of year down south. It gets extremely hot and anyone using their brain generally tries to avoid this area during the hottest parts of summer. Unfortunately it becomes extremely important to sell the rooms just to cover the costs of wages and bills like electricity during this time so the prices of the rooms generally crash to not much beyond basic costs to run the place for a while. This is pretty much the norm during this time of year for all lodging in the area.

That also means that's when the druggies and prostitutes think its a great time to try to check in, especially if the place (like ours) supplies free internet and includes breakfast.

So yesterday these two girls try to check in. They are wearing almost nothing and look a little skanky but it is summer so my agent goes about checking them in.

And then this little gem comes out of the mouth of one of them...

"Yeah, so I'm glad this place is here. I'm going to be bringing tricks in and out all night".

To which my agents jaw drops to the floor.

Oh HELL NO she isn't staying with us. We need the money, but no druggies and no hookers allowed. No no no no no. Our regular people guests are much too important to the life blood of this place to allow that. I'd rather go empty than become one of those places. If she wants to do that, then she can go stay at the hooker motel on the other side of the city even though it is a piece of crap. The thing is..... if she had kept her mouth shut, we'd have never been the wiser.

Needless to say that she was informed that she would not be getting a room last night. She was NOT pleased and we almost had to go back to deal with the situation but she did eventually leave.

If a regular person were to arrive in a place like that, they wouldn't stay. It could close us down.

Let me add that I know people have to make a living, but there is a hotel that DOES accept this stuff. Everyone in the city knows it, but nothing is done about it because it keeps most of this stuff there. There is no need to go somewhere else.

I agree, this is a situation you _don't_ want to let start lest it spread.

Best of luck in keeping your rooms full with decent customers...

That just...gah! How bloody stupid can you get?! What's she going to do next, ply her trade in front of the police station?!
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Let what spread exactly? Rumors? Diseases?
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

Rumors. Plus, once one of the working girls knows that the hotel allows that, she'll tell her friends that there's a closer location that's nicer then rundown hooker-hotel, and then they'll tell their friends... and so on.

That's what I intended, sorry for the confusion...

She's a bit dense, isn't she? If you're gonna do something shady/illegal/nasty then maybe you shouldn't announce it lol.

Customers like that one are the reason why they had to pass a new law (in the last 10-15 years or so, IIRC) making it illegal for motels and hotels (mainly on Airline Drive) to rent out rooms by the hour.

OTOH, it makes it easier to weed them out.

Only because the block was there for at least 75 years before they built the police station, and at one time that was the only place in the city were prostitution and strip clubs were actually allowed. Don't know what the laws are now -- it's been at least 30 years since I lived on that side of town.

I worked at a hotel with "down and out" rooms. Basically you can park outside the door to your room.

The front section was the hourly rooms. Pay by the hour and front desk has a direct view of that section. It wasn't just assumed at what was going on in there but the bosses figured it was more profitable to let it go on.

Yeah, starting with you and your staff, who are proper tax-paying citizens. If customers stopped checking in because of the hooker trash, you and yours would be the first people not making a living.

We had 6 of them try to check in last night. My agent refused them and called us to have us shut down all the avenues they could use to book.

EvilEmpryss hit the nail on the head.
