  • Return of the domestic terrorist: Just when you think its over.

Recap: In my previous post about the domestic terrorist...

    1. He brought a prostitute to the hotel that robbed him.
    2. He charged alot of long distance calls to the hotel.
    3. He sexually harassed my staff member by blowing kisses at her, shaking his crotch at her, and generally making her very uncomfortable.
    4. He chased me down in a restaurant so I could check people in on my lunch break.
    5. He disappeared on the day of his checkout getting arrested for domestic terrorism after threatening to bomb a downtown building.

    My Original Post

So he shows up at the hotel again and the first thing out of his mouth immediately when I open the door is "I checked and its illegal to charge someone when they're in lock up".

Bullshit... he had the key and his stuff was in the room. Needless to say, I wasn't nice and basically told him to come back later when my husband was there, then I closed the door on him. And yes, that sounds nicer than what I actually did because I was a bit rude and told him to stop threatening us (he tells everyone that doesn't kiss his shiny hiny that he's going to sue them), among other things.

So he leaves and comes back after my husband gets back. And my husband shoots him down immediately with "You had the key, I couldn't rent the room" and the terrorist says "Oh. Oh yeah. Well that's logical. Can I get a room tonight". To which my husband basically says "Not a chance. Because of what happened last time, we won't rent to you again" but in slightly nicer terms. The guy then says "Well, I can legally dispute that, but I'll just let it go". Wtf? We don't HAVE to rent to anyone. Ever. That's part of the perks of being in business. So long as we don't discriminate based on color of skin, culture, sexual orientation, religion, etc, we can refuse anyone service.

    Wow. Just wow.

Yep, New Orleans. It's just that we seem to get a disproportionate number of crazies in our hotel even though it's New Orleans.

I swear next time I do a cross country banzai run I am going to stop and stay there, just so I can see if something funky happens ... in some 40 years of staying hotels I have only had 1 odd thing happen [the desk rented the room Rob and I were in and the people came to the door and kept trying to get in but we had the security bolt fixed and they couldn't open the door all the way so they just yelled and screamed through the crack while we called the desk.]

HOPEFULLY he'll go away quietly, or if not at least go the #$%& away!

Good riddance to a freaking nutjob!

                "He can legally dispute that"

Yeah, him and the whole team of lawyers that will be so eager to take this case over the charges for a night or two in a hotel. That's the sort of case lawyers dream of taking on! I'll bet Johnny Cochran will rise out of his grave to lend him a hand with this weighty legal matter.

The only lawyer who would take any such case will want money up-front, but this millionaire not only is broke all the time, he has to pan-handle - so where is he going to go?

Do you happen to charge lower rates that could possibly be attracting them?

That sort of thing happened to us. The room had already been rented...oops.

Back to the OP, now that DT is on the DNR list, I hope the rest of the staff doesn't rent by mistake.
Another example of lawsuit threats in inverse proportion to the likelihood of paying. Not too many lawyers who will take that one on a contingency fee.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

I'll pass. Last time I stayed in a hotel, a drunk got locked out of his room and spent nearly an hour banging on the door. Stupid security guard stood right there and let him.

We mark all of them in the system Do Not Rent beside their name. The name should pop up with the first three letters of the first or last name typed in. I'm hoping thats enough

I am perfectly willing to whip open a door and to scream at someone to shut the hell up or I will call the police. I don't have to be nice to them.
