  • Iwas (slightly and allededly) Inconvienced .... GIMME FREE STUFF

Phone rings at 15 minutes before close tonight. (FRIGGIN SLOW as heck night even though there was a football game). I answer with the standard company greeting

ME: one who is getting really tired of this shit
NHN - Senior care facility nurse

Me: <<standard phone scrip greeting blah blah >>carryout or delivery??
NHN: Delivery. BUT WE were trying to order online but the website would not let us complete the order
Me: I am sorry that happened. Unfortuneately the we have no control over the website, but I will be happy to take your order.
NHN: WELL WE feel that WE DESERVE a FREE <new desert product> for our inconvience.

Me: <ignore mode> May I please have your phone number please???
    NHN: 123-456-7890
Me; Blah blah Senior Care Facility at 123 Pill Way
    NHN YES
Me: What would you like to order tonight>>>>>????
NHN: <give order and wants Online special which I do give them>>>
Me: So that is <order>??? Is this correct???

NHN YES>>>>> AND are we gonna get that free <new desert product> BECAUSE WE wasted and HOUR trying to order online and we feel YOUR company should compensate us for that TIME??????

    Me: Hold Please.

Such entitlement and red flags here. I really want to just take them off hold and say something to the effect of " WELL can I have a few days at your facility cause one of the staff there was very rude and ignorant to me a couple of weeks ago????? Hey I believe that to be fair compensation for that really rude fellow employee of yours.

HEY 3 squares a day , a bed, free cable and lively conversation that no one will remember the next day all for free. sounds great to me YEAH I need a really break.

But since I can't say that I get the MODs approval to give them the free desert.

Me: <off hold> OK I have approval for that desert and your total will be 18.78 and will be delivered by 2:15am.

Just because you "MIGHT" have had trouble with the corp website is NOT a very good reason to go for the freebie grab.
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Great, another MOD fail. Wanna bet the next time they have an order there will be yet another "problem" and more freebies will be demanded?

I recently complained about some pretty awful pizza I received from national pizza chain. They sent me a coupon for a free large pizza (unexpected, but Whoo Hoo!). The driver was surprised when I handed over the coupon, explaining that the price of the pizza was taken off the bill (and it was) and here was the coupon for it. According to the driver, most people "forget" to hand over the coupon and he appreciated my honestly. Sad that I have to be thanked for not stealing a free large pizza.

An HOUR? I can understand trying a second time if things go wrong the first time, but if there's a problem the second time they should go to an alternate method (i.e. phone in the order) instead of keeping on trying the online system. After all, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

Pizza chain should do either of 2 things to cut back on this kind of fraud:

        1) Coupon amount is NOT taken off the bill. Instead, the coupon is treated as a method of payment (i.e. large pizza is $11.95 including tax, customer hands over either the coupon or $11.95 in cash).

        2) Coupons have serial numbers (including checksums). When a coupon is given out, its number is entered into the system as "live". When customer phones in the order, they need to give the serial number off the coupon - order-taker enters it into the system, and it comes up as "live", "not yet issued", or "already redeemed". Naturally, the coupon is only accepted if it comes up "live" (and processing the order changes it to "already redeemed"). If "not yet issued", the system tracks the number so that when that coupon is entered in order to make it "live", it comes up "someone already tried to redeem this one", so the person discards it and tries the next one in the stack.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

At that time of day, especially, why would anyone spend that long trying to make the website work for them?

We have that happen where I work. I've had people tell me they tried for four hours to place their ad online. Why the hell...??

But of course, in both cases, it could be a case of "customer standard time." 10 minutes = one hour.
