  • You never paid me!

This was a good one! Okay so this lady came up to the cage and got my co worker. My CW was scanning her tickets and one came up already redeemed by a slot person the night before.

SC: I want my money now! I don't have time for this!

CW: I'm sorry but I have to call slots due to the ticket already being redeemed.

The ticket in question? 678 dollars. Of course we're going to call slots!

So CW called slots and then has to wait until the slots supervisor can make it over. Of course it takes several mins its not like they can just drop what they are doing and rush right over.

Soon the SC's host comes over and just makes the situation worse. She was egging SC on and making us look like idiots.

Host: I don't understand why you can't just pay her! SC I am so sorry about this...

    Us:

I am just watching this from my till and I was annoyed that the host was acting as if we weren't doing our jobs right and that we were holding up her precious commission cow.

CW: Ma'am as I said to the guest we have to go through the proper channels. I have to wait for slots. They will be here soon.

In the mean time the host had my CW frantically calling the front desk to make sure her SC got to check out late. If I was the cashier I would've put the phone on the counter and told her to do her own damn job.

My SV came out to make sure things were going okay and was appalled by the Hosts behavior and later told the hosts' boss that it was NOT okay.

So the (SSV) slot supervisor comes up.

SSV: Unfortunately SC it looks like you were paid last night. The machine froze and so we had to do a damaged ticket.

SC: This is ridiculous! I was NEVER paid. The ticket is still in my purse!

SSV: Sometimes after the damaged ticket is issued the ticket will later print out of the machine--it must have done so when the slot person left. But in any case you were already paid last night.

    SC: How do you know??

She had her players card on the counter so we knew her name.

SSV: Because whenever we do a damaged ticket we require ID and we have a signed ticket by you and we took down your ID information.

SC: *scoffs* I bet someone else cashed it out. I was not paid! I expect you to investigate and I've never been so insulted in my life! I am telling you I was not paid last night!!

Host: SC we will look into it and I promise you things will be okay.

The host gave dirty looks to all of us and basically told SC that she'd be getting her money. The host has NO power over any of us and has no final word so I don't get why she'd want to make promises that can't be kept?

So the SC walks away in a snit and the host turns to the SSV and tells him that SC is like mother Theresa and that there is a big misunderstanding.

    The next day...

They reviewed tape (the host somehow got to see it--which is highly unusual but I think it was to rub it in her face) and guess who got paid that ticket?? OWNED!!!

Are you allowed to ignore the host? As in, anything she tries to ever do again? Because her attitude deserves it.

What's a host's normal job, Anakah? Obviously not this, but I'm not familiar enough with how such things work. And thank goodness for video, eh?

The host reminds me of some of our sales engineers and our customer-advocacy person. They're often worse than the customer.

"Oh lookee here. Mother Theresa actually DID get paid!"

What was the host's reaction? I hope she realizes what an ass she made of herself.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Agree, Host should be shown the tape and given a warning that any more abuse of the staff results in her no longer being welcome...

The host probably pulled a Lord Rust and just decided that anything that painted her as being in the wrong could not possibly exist, and categorically decided that if it doesn't exist, it can be ignored.

Too bad the SC couldn't be made to view the tape, and forced to apologize.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. But there's no limit to the sheer nerve that some of these people possess.

She was probably to drunk to remember she got paid.

And the host needs to be reminded that the casino pays her salary, not the customer. Kissing customer rear does not include harrassing other staff.

Generally speaking, high rollers (those people who spend a LOT of money at a Casino) are assigned hosts.

These people are basically glorified personal servants, charged with getting the customers whatever they need to ensure said customers KEEP spending big amounts of money at the Casino.

They can also serve as a liaison between the customer and other Casino staff or they can sometimes (as in the OP), serve as an obstacle between the customer and other staff.

I used to work at a Casino. You'd be stunned how often it actually happens. However, usually it's not Danny Ocean style multi-million dollar hits but small timers trying to get us for a few hundred or few thousand.

"The casino host has the power to issue complimentary services (or "comps") to players. Comps can range from complimentary meals, beverages, and show (concert or theater)"
Which I had to google from Wikipedia cuz it sounded way better than how
I was going to word it.

Basically they kiss ass and give you free stuff. But they can't tell other departments how to do their jobs or force them to do theirs.
