Here at the red checkmark one of the things we do, aside from getting cussed out by SCs who think their bill is too high, is fix technical problems with phones. To assist us in doing so, we have a program that allows us to remotely access the phones, much like an IT pro would do to fix a computer.
The people who programmed the tool aren't complete idiots. We aren't allowed access to the customers photos, banking apps and navigation applications among others BUT there's still a good deal that we are able to access that can cause us to see a wee bit more than either we or the customer ever intended us to.
For whatever reason in the past month, there's been a noticeable uptick in porn related troubleshooting calls (for those who may not know, porn sites are notorious for spreading malware, spyware and viruses).
Fortunately, I've been (almost) spared any awful sightings. My coworkers have not been so lucky. Here's a small sample of what's been observed:
- Midget porn
- Mature (as in old ladies) porn
- Bestiality
- Amateur porn (in some cases featuring the very customer we are speaking to)
- BBW porn ("big boned" girls)
One in particular that was pretty interesting was the rep beside me told me of a call where the device wallpaper was a topless of photo of a girl who he was pretty sure was also the primary owner of said device. Who does that?
The one I saw simply had some photos of a lady in VERY skimpy clothes. A lady I did not find attractive at all. I'm sure someone somewhere does, but it's nothing I wanted to see.
Of course we can always experience a timely "system crash" and take them through troubleshooting the old fashioned way if there's something we see that really bothers us. One rep I know straight out asked a girl to change her wallpaper, at least for the duration of the call.
It's really quite amazing what people will put on their phones in full view of anyone and everyone.
Also, in case you are wondering we do have "special" customers who call us with the intent of getting us to connect remotely so they can show us "stuff".
