  • Some good news with my car

About a month ago I posted about some damage to my car. (re-cap: a lawn maintenance guy was cutting grass and the mower shot a rock at my car). The incident was witnessed and I had a name and phone number, but the guy wasn't returning my calls. I did some investigating, and since it was a city contractor, the city bore some responsibility in the matter. After running through a half dozen city employees who couldn't care less and just closed my file after opening it, I finally got some fruitful advice from my councillors office. I filed an insurance claim with the city, at which point it became something they couldn't ignore. Lo and behold, a day later they finally gave me a company name and contact info (the only thing I was ever asking from them).

I checked this company out and found out that this guy is getting ridiculously well paid for the work he's doing - $1,000,000 over three years. Since I had a claim in against him, I was threatening this contract so he was very interested in keeping me happy.

I worked with him and got a good estimate. I was very nervous when I took the car in because at that point, if he decided to stiff me, I'd be on the hook for the full cost, but it all worked out in the end. Ironically, I was driving past the dealership on an unrelated matter just as he was leaving, I was pretty excited to see that it all worked out.

I'm glad to hear you stuck to your guns!
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.
