  • Stuff You don't tell the cashier

Okay if you're applying for credit in a casino Do NOT tell me its because there is no money in your account and its for your power bill!!!

SC: I would like to write for sixty dollars-- My electric has been cut off and I need to turn it back on and pay it.

Me: ... Um, I will be right back.

Lucky for me her ID didn't match her check because why should we give you money if you're not going to spend it here? Also, she bounced a check at another casino from like June and hasn't paid it yet. Yes, we have access to see where you've previously cashed or bounced checks.

I go in the back and tell my supervisor about her having NOTHING in her bank and only using us because she needs to pay a bill AND she owes money.

I go back out, knowing this is going to be a blow up.

Me: Unfortunately due to your check not matching your ID we won't be able to cash a check for you today.

SC: I have proof that I live there!

Me: That's not the problem though... They have to match due to our policy. (it's kind of true)

SC: This is bullshit! I need this money! How else will I get my electric turned back on!?

My SV hears her bitching up a storm and comes out.

SV: Ma'am as my cashier has said we due to our policies we cannot cash this check.

SC: Bullshit! This place is horrible! *bitch, moan, bitch moan*

We were nice and didn't say anything about the previously bounced check and she finally went on her way.

Do NOT tell me you have no money in your account OR its not for gaming! Check cashing is based on the play on your players card. It's not for groceries, bills or new cars or boats!!! And if it is DO NOT TELL ME!!!

Assuming she does have frequent play on her card, I suspect the frequent play and the lack of money might be connected...

I wouldn't be playing in a casino if I couldn't pay my monthly utilities but that's just me.

And she needed only $60 to turn it back on? How cheap is the electric in your part of the woods? Around here I'm paying on average $225/month just to keep the lights on and that's only if we're not running the AC or the heat.

And her not having money to pay her electric bill is your problem how?

I agree, if she's that desperate for money she should be doing O/T or a second job and _not_ hanging around a casino!

          Money

Well, it is clear from past actions as well as this recent check she thinks casinos stay in business by giving out more money than they take in. They must make it up in the volume

Really, if she has not paid off the old check, what are the odds that she would pay off the most recent one?

It depends on the electric company's policy and local laws. Sometimes you can work out a deal with them to pay in instalments. Although I suspect it's not really for the electric bill.

Sounds like the SC has a bigger problem with priorities than income
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

My first thought when reading this is... You're yelling at a casino employee for not giving you money? Not because you lost at gambling, but literally because someone won't hand you cash just because you want it. I have to admit that I didn't even realize this was something a casino did. I mean, I guess if a person already has spent a lot of money, maybe that makes sense, but not out of the blue you know?
