  • SC on SC action?

I was wondering if you were dealing with a SC, only to have another SC go crazy on the first one, like if you were making a sandwich for a perfectionist, and a rude, swearing person decides to interrupt you so he could complain about your service, making the perfectionist so angry that sparks fly between them.

If that or something like that ever happened, what did you do to resolve the situation?

I'm not asking for advice; I'm asking for stories, please. I don't work in a place that has SCs. I work from home.

    Thanks in advance!

I'd step back and let them take out their aggression on one another, and quickly call a manager in. Once they're done with their pissing contest, they'll likely turn on you.

SCs are never hot in that sense...

I agree with Eric. Call for manager or even police intervention.

I don't have any real juicy tales, the people who shop at my store are much too passive-aggressive, but there have been a couple incidents which veer in that direction.

This one was a SC going off on a regular customer. Crazy lady yelling at the register in the evening about something which she thought should have been on sale, or cheaper or something... The cashier had paged for someone to check the sign, but before anyone could get there, the SC started yelling at a random woman browsing the magazines near the register. (I don't remember the exact words, but this was the gist) Oh, the SC didn't get what she wanted since the sign excluded it and the manager was not thrilled at being yelled at, and the RC stayed in the store for a while, afraid to leave.

SC: You! What's the sale on this!
RC: Uh, I don't work here.
SC: That doesn't matter, you can tell me if this is on sale!
RC: No I can't, and don't yell at me.
SC: I can yell at whoever I want!!

This one I didn't see, but when I came in to work everyone was talking about it. Two women came up to the cutting counter at the same time. If I had been there, I would have forced each one to get a number, even though there were employees available because we are supposed to be doing that no matter how silly it seems. But anyway, an employee waved one of them over. Before she made it to the counter the other one lost her MIND and started screeching at the other that SHE WAS FIRST!!! The other lady starts yelling back that SHE WAS NOT! And the first one started walking down an aisle, very agitated. (This is a red flag for me, pacing and arm flailing reminds me of when I saw an acquaintance who messed up her meds once) But the other woman followed the other, still arguing with her. Meanwhile there were two employees ready to help them both, but wisely stayed quiet behind the counter. I don't even know if either of the women ended up buying anything, and it seemed as though they did not know each other.

I've had scs complain about other scs all the time working at the Hellton. Some group of girls would go around screaming there foul little faces off (they were prepaid with our idiot sales manager) and some other guy would be complaining about them. Now one may say, well the guy has a right to complain since he's trying to get some sleep eh? Normally I would agree but this guy would expect me to be those girls babysitter or something. The only thing I could do is tell the girls' chaperone to control them, which they did eventually. But if they couldn't then there was nothing at all I could do. I couldn't kick them out because the GM who's in cahoots with the sales manager, frowns at prepaid groups getting kicked out. All about the $$$...So glad I don't have to deal with that mess anymore...

Our frontend is set up so it's pretty easy to cut in front of people but for the most part I don't have to say much since the customers do a good job of self-policing it.

One day I had a line but was in between people when a guy buying a bottle of vodka comes right up to my register bypassing our queue, well the woman I was going to ring up next tells the guy to hoof it to the back of the line and he did. He may or may not have already had a few before he was buying this bottle, kind of hard to tell.

Of course that wasn't enough for this woman. She kept going on and on and on about him. And kept trying to get me to agree with her. I keep my mouth shut because this woman is enough of a regular that I know she just likes to bitch.

Someone else rings up Mr. Vodka and as he's walking past her he mutters "Some people." And I have to say that I agree with him. I don't remember if the woman heard him but I'm sure I would if she did so I'll just say she didn't.

But the story doesn't end there. About a month later, same lady comes in and I didn't remember her at first. She's bringing up Mr. Vodka again and then I remembered. She was saying something about how in the parking lot he was giving her the finger and yelling at her from his car.

And again I was still on his side because he didn't make a fuss when she said she was next in line. He took his vodka and went to the next register. She wouldn't let it drop and then tried to drag me into it and still expect me to be mad on her behave a month later? You lose!

I also had one old woman yell at two younger guys about cutting in line when she was the one doing it. They were actually standing by the sign that says "Wait here for next available cashier". I made sure I told them they were in the right.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

Years ago, during the Christmas rush at Value City 2 women, who did not know each other, decided to get into a pissing match in a check out line. Everyline was open, the cashiers were doing the best they could but it was a mad house. Me and the other CSM were running back and forth answering calls, helping bag, getting change when we here one woman screech "I was here first! My cart was here! I just had to go grab something!" Well, obviously she parked her cart in line and then wandered off to shop some more (she had about 6 shirts in her arms) so a lady came up, saw no one at the cart, and moved the cart and took the place in line (about 6 deep). The lady who took the place said "You don't get to reserve a spot while you shop" so moved lady starts THROWING all her shit in her cart at the other lady but is hitting others in line. I am yelling for security and trying to get her to stop, the lady who moved the cart starts throwing shit back at her and everyone is just staring at two grown ass women having a temper tantrum over a spot in line. They were both removed from the store without their purchases.
