  • Anybody know anything about Linux Mint?

A co-worker just gave me a laptop he no longer needed. I put Linux Mint on it.

I set up an account for myself and for my wife.

I downloaded a few things from the software repository. One of them was "gambit" (it's a game-theory software).

Unfortunately, I don't know where it got installed. I can't find it in the menu items anywhere.

    Any ideas?

Not as familiar w/ Mint as some other distros, but...

How did you download and install the programs? (apt-get, a package manager, terminal, etc.)
Is Gambit the only one that did not turn up in the applicable menu after install?
Have you tried searching through /usr or /home?

When that happens to me, I usually find them in /dev/null...

I did it through a package manager. I did manage to install Eclipse and a couple of other things successfully, and they showed up in the menu like they should have. Gambit, however, did not.

Earlier today, I even tried installing it on my Ubuntu machine, with the same result.

Did you try doing a search for a file name.. something like: 'find / |grep "gambit"'

A friend of mine suggested I try to open it through the terminal.

            That worked.

I do want to find out where it got installed, though, so I can put an icon on the desktop.

Sounds like the installation process skipped the step of adding a menu option.

As I'm not familiar with any version of Linux, is there a file manger of sorts you can click through? (Similar to Explorer/Finder on Win/Mac)
