  • Supervisor dealt with pissy customer; warning language

    This incident happened yesterday.

The link below pertains to this post.

    http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...d.php?t=109721

Apparently a client who is somehow connected to the VIP club and the valet company that is being used at the parking lot parked in one of the valet parking spots for personal business. He paid for his parking at the pay machine that is located in front of the building that is next to the parking lot.

The porter supervisor who I report to called me on the company cell phone that I have to use at work to let me know to come to the surface lot. He mentioned to me that 2 cars were parked in the valet section, and the each customer paid for their parking. The valet company wanted these two cars towed, but the cars could not be towed because both customers paid for all day parking.

While he was talking to me, one of the customers who parked in the valet section walked up to his car. My supervisor saw him, and he told him that he needed to speak to him.

That was when the customer became pissy.

He had an attitude out the wazoo.

He acted like an ass during the entire exchange.

Turns out this guy is somehow connected with the VIP club and the valet parking company that is used at the parking lot.

Also, the VIP club and this guy complained about the company uniform I have to wear. The property management company that owns the parking garage I work at as well as the other parking garages located in the area of parking garages that my employer manages chose our work uniforms.

The VIP club and this particular guy requested that I not be on the parking lot when the valet staff is present. I was told by my employer to make myself scarce when the valet staff is present on the parking lot. That also means that I cannot cut through the parking lot to go to lunch or to return to the garage office to clock out and go home. I have to go to the garage office to clock out for lunch.

That also means that their lot ain't gonna get cleaned, doesn't it? Wait until they start complaining about debris (empty coffee cups, etc.) blowing through the lot. "But you just told the only person that's supposed to clean the place not to show up!" "That's not my problem."

So they are blaming you for their decision? Better get stuff in writing...

Were it me, this is looking to be a really really good time to find greener pastures. Unless the garage ditches the VIP club, it very much sounds like things are going to hit atomic wedgie in the realm of "worse" before someone finally decides that this brilliant project conflicts with the ultimate goal of the garage overlords (make money). And sadly, those in the day to day operations are going to find themselves unable to do their assigned tasks but still be completely invisible... with only those on the ground being shown the door for being unable to be gods on earth.

Uh, if I'm reading this right, they've cut off your access to the time clock. It feels to me like there has to be something wrong about that....

The way I read it is that OP's duty station is located in such a manner that taking a shortcut across the parking lot is a major timesaver in traveling between it and the garage office (with the timeclock). By taking the long way around (to avoid being in the parking lot), this costs the OP time out of her lunch break.

Turns out the garage manager whom I report to, the one who came up with this project, has come under fire at work because 1) there have not been enough valet parking spots at the parking lot to accommodate every valet guest and 2) 30 spots had to blocked off inside the parking garage below which is only used for contract parking. That is one of the garages I am responsible for cleaning. Those 30 spots were not being used.

The monthly parkers are not happy that 30 parking spots have been literally taken away inside that garage. I have already received a complaint about this from a monthly parker who parks in that garage.

What on earth is wrong with your company uniform?
And is that the reason they don't want to see you?!

According to the VIP club and this guy our company uniforms are ugly, and they clash with the valet companies uniforms.

So because of that, I cannot be seen on the parking lot when they are present.

So, this means you will not be able to do your job of keeping that garage clean? I think the PTB have their heads so far up their asses that they are seeing daylight because they are making no sense in terms of their expectations of you.

Seriously, find a new job instead of sticking with this one. I've worked for places where their expectations of their employee just got more and more ridiculous, and the stress just isn't worth it.

I can keep the garage clean as best I can.

It is the surface lot that I cannot keep clean.
