  • Wrong order? She doesn't care!

Just a little tidbit overheard from the food delivery person at the restaurant we were in.

Delivery: "I accidentally gave the first one the wrong order. I went back as soon as I realized it, but she'd already eaten all the food by the time I got there!"

(In fairness, that could have easily been me, since I'm actually really bad at paying attention to what I ordered in the first place.)

At a job I had years ago, I used to order from a place that NEVER got my order right. I thought it was delightfully random. "I wonder what I'm going to have for lunch today? Is it going to be a hamburger? Chicken? Oh, fish and chips! Lovely!" Some people hated it and would fuss at the delivery person. My thought about that is if you never once get what you ordered, you know you aren't going to this time either. Either don't order from them, or go and get it yourself!

At least where I live, if you deliver the wrong food to someone you aren't legally allowed to take it back and give it to someone else. Not on a home delivery, or even at a restaurant. The thinking is, how do you know what that customer did to the order? They could have tampered with it, have a communicable disease, etc.

At the pizza place I used to work at, if a customer ate a wrong order, then they couldn't get a refund. Didn't stop some people demanding one, and throwing a tantrum when they didn't get it. Seriously, if it was wrong, then why did you eat it?

Because they then get a second order of food for free.

Not at my old place, they didn't. XD The owner wanted to make money, not lose it.

Sometimes it's not worth it-I ordered fried eggs, they came scrambled.Rather than send the whole meal back that will have to be thrown away, then fine I'll be having fried eggs.I might mention it and rather than changing it over, there might be a small amount knocked off the bill for it.

I guess if it looked like the completely wrong order I might call. If it looked like one thing was switched, that's no big deal. It would depend on how hungry I was, and what the food was that got delivered. If it was orange chicken instead of kung pao chicken that's no big deal. If I ordered 3-4 items, and only got 1-2, then I'm calling if that makes sense. I'm a slow eater, so I would almost certainly not have finished the food, though.

Eating all of someone else's food sounds like a case of the Wacky Tobacky to me.
