  • Drunken pool party

Our motel pool closes at 11pm. I am the full time auditor and I don't usually have a problem extending the hours of operation since the pool is nowhere near guest rooms and is enclosed.

One night the afternoon person told me she had allowed some people to stay in the pool for as long as they wanted. I was ok with this until a groom showed up with a couple other dudes - carrying an enormous cooler.

Now, I had to rush over and tell him he could swim but the alcohol was not allowed. Boy did he get mad. He started cussing and swore up and down he was told by the afternoon person that this was ok.

Apparently, I had ruined his wedding night because I would not allow people who were already drinking at a wedding to continue drinking while swimming. (can you just see the accidents waiting to happen?)

Now, I have a rule whereas I tell my coworkers that they must send people to me first and I will make the final decision as to whether I will allow late night swimming.

I somehow doubt that the guy's conversation with the earlier employee involved alcohol in any way, shape or form ~_~ Even if it had, hotel rules say "no alcohol," so that means "no alcohol." Kudos to you for enforcing it! I can see him complaining now -- "Hey! Figgyx refused to let us break the hotel's alcohol policy and put ourselves in danger at the pool! The guy before said we could do it!....What? No I don't think he was a manager..." -- In this case, I'd be more interested in talking with the alleged first worker than anyone else.

I'm pretty sure the first employee didn't say they could drink. Of course, the guest probably didn't even bring the topic up, so assumed that not saying no = saying yes. "I didn't ask him, but he didn't say I couldn't."
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Forget alcohol! I thought it was a common pool rule to not allow food and drinks at the pool.

            Typical SC hearing

Question: "Hey, can we use the pool a little later than usual?"

Answer: "Sure, as long as an employee is at the desk and you keep the noise down"

What SC heard: "Sure....... and do whatever you want"

The instant he swore, I would have told him the pool was closed.

Nah, I call B.S. No one told him he could bring a cooler full of alcohol to the pool. If anything he MIGHT have asked if it was okay to "bring his drink with him", but frankly I doubt it. Typical drunk asshole reasoning: If it's okay to use the pool, it's okay to drink, too. After all, who swims without booze, right? In fact who does ANYTHING without booze, right? Right??

Yep, selective hearing again! I know my old hotel didn't allow alcohol or glass containers in the pool area. Didn't stop people though, that and sneaking into the hot tub at night, or letting the toddlers use the hot tub like a kidde pool...

This actually reminds me of a large church group we had staying who wanted us to close the pool off to all the other guest so they could use it for baptisms. We said no, but they started kicking people out themselves and blessing the pool...

WTF? After being refused permission, they took it on themselves to kick other guests out of the pool? If they want the pool to themselves, they need to book (and pay for) EVERY room in the place. Pulling a stunt like that should get them kicked out of the hotel (and no refunds).
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

This makes me think of a hotel/resort I know that rents out for special events(I've done some work in their pool atrium). You can hire the entire place if you want to. It's slightly under 200 rooms IIRC, and the "we're taking over" charge is equivalent to booking slightly more than half of those rooms. Includes the restaurant and ballroom, though food n drink charges are extra, of course.

I should see if the owner would like to post here, he's got some amazing stories.

The best month as far as weird(according to the owner) started with a fraternity weekend 1, a swingers group weekend 2, a church retreat complete with baptisms weekend 3, and a private concert weekend 4 for a political group.

I was working second shift ages and ages ago. Our security guard found 2 military guys and stripper (that worked across the street) out by the pool. One guy was screwing her while the other guy watched. The other guy had a broken leg and was on crutches. The security guard tells they have to leave. The guy screwing her says "Let me finish and you can watch". Of course the guard just repeats that they have to leave now. Crutch guy was sad and sulked "But I had her next....." . The next day I was working the morning shift. The guy that was screwing the stripper came to check out. He starts saying how he fucked up and didn't use a rubber. I said yep, you may want to go get yourself tested champ."
