So I've been on Yik Yak for way to long now....(2 weeks)

and I see all these Freshmen (I'm in a college town), complaining about things that, to me, seem silly and you should of expected them. Also I see them only eating ramen.

So my thought was to make a freshman survival guide plus cheap/inexpensive easy recipes for the dorm room of a typical college student.

anyone want to add their 2 cents?

As a bookseller I can tell you these types of books already exist- at the end of every summer we have an influx of parents wanting to buy them for their college-bound kids. However, the market is definitely not flooded so I think such a title would have a chance. Some of these books also include tips on doing laundry and car repair and such as well. You could add stuff like that.

When it comes to simple recipes, try to add stuff you can make cold or make in the microwave as some kids won't have access to a kitchen (my dorm had one small kitchen for the whole dorm so it was usually busy).

        For thefood part:

Definitely look for stuff that's hard to screw up, and cheap.

Beans (even from canned ones that aren't shit -- Blue Runner is a good brand down heah, for example) are often heat and eat, an rice goes well with those. A small (4 cup) rice cooker can be had for like 10-15 bucks, and makes rice literally impossible to ruin (unless you leave it in there untouched for half a day). Bought in larger packages, this can be significantly *cheaper than something like ramen, and much better for you.

Also, marketing it to them effectively can be worth looking into -- younger folks' tastes can change rapidly (no offense to any reading), so figuring out what they're interested in will be important. Even the name of the book is important.
