got my first one already, and it was only Thursday! fortunately it was a very minor one, but still..
in the campground that i am now on my 4th summer at, i'm known as pretty much the guru of the program we use to register guests. if someone has a question, or can't figure out how to do something, or something stops working... the answer is usually "ask Katz" so yesterday i walk into work for my afternoon shift and am greeted with "oh yay! you're here! help!". i thought something had gone wrong on a reservation, as the co-worker who was asking my help was holding a receipt in her hand, and she had a guest in front of her.
turns out the only thing they were questioning was a math issue combined with a slightly confusing receipt output. they wanted to know why they paid $55 as a 1 nights deposit, but the receipt they just got said it 3 nights @ $58. they had the 10% member discount card, so they were convinced that the math was wrong somehow... because the receipt is stupid sometimes (we get questions on stuff on the receipt all the time, but anyway) the receipt prints it out as such: 3 nights @ 58. minus the 10% discount, then plus the 5.5% tax... and when someone makes a reservation, the computer considers that end total and calculates the amount of the 1 night deposit based on that rate, so 58 - 10% + 5.5% equaled the exact amount of their deposit... but i HAD to show them on a calculator and explain. they left satisfied in my answer. i don't think he was happy that the tax added after the discount, but o well.
unfortunately by the time i walked in, the desk clerk who HAD been handling it was also confused by the receipt and had apparently put in a call to the manager that the computer had done the math wrong on a transaction and she couldn't figure out how to fix it... or something of that nature.... because i got a call later on the radio asking about it...
ah well... it's Friday now... got over 140 families pouring in today. wish me luck!...in all likelihood i'll be bringing you more stories as the weekend wears on... but hopefully not many this year!
