  • Gone in Sixty Seconds?

    Actually, less than sixty seconds.

Just doing a little housecleaning around work the other day, moving some cars around to other places in the lot based on how likely (or unlikely) it is they'll be leaving soon.

This ol' junk Cavalier in particular has been declared abandoned by us (owner hasn't called/come in for it in 10 days and it has no plates) so it went to the off-property storage lot.

While moving it, thought I'd give you all a little demonstration. When a FWD car is nose-out and the parking brake is off, how quickly to can hook it up depends entirely on how good your aim is, and if you're REALLY good, you don't even have to get out of the cab.

I think that's what Bernice calls a "hook & book."

How frequently do folks set their emergency/parking brakes?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I always set my parking brake. Force of habit after some concerns I had with my old car maybe slipping on a steep enough incline.

              I'd say it's 50-50

Personally, every time I park. That's what they're there for.

My sister learned that lesson the hard way w/her 2004 Honda Accord coupe. After a couple of times of chasing her car down the parking lot and into the woods (back when she worked at a local daycare) she learned to double check her parking brake.
