  • Hot Weather Thins the Blood

I am loving this salon I've been going to lately. I hear the most interesting things.

Like that it is a scientific fact(!) that when the weather gets cold, your blood literally thickens to keep you warm, and when the weather gets hot, your blood thins to keep you cool.

No really! I heard this little old lady say so!

I missed that in biology, but hey, sounds legit, right? She said it explains why when, after a long cold winter of 20*F temps, you think it's hot when it gets up to 50*F. See, your blood hasn't thinned again yet for summer, so you think 50* feels hot even though it feels cold after a summer full of 90*F weather!

    Isn't the human body amazing?
Sorry, my cow died so I don't need your bull

I once had a patient say he didn't want to give smoking cause giving up is bad for your health. When I asked him why, this old Highlanders answer was "Ahhh lass. It keeps awa' th' microbes".

My father-in-law keeps scolding me for tossing my daughter around (as parents do, nothing to hurt her or anything). He keeps telling me we'll flip her liver. The first time I heard this, I thought he was joking, then Hubs told me, yeah, he actually believes it. THAT was a new one for me.
The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains gives hope to many people.

You would have to be incredibly dense for the world to revolve around you.

I got told as a child that drinking too cold drinks too fast would give me lice in the stomach.

I remember something about not sitting on cold stone steps because it would impair my ability to have a child when I grew up.

Seeing as how I never had any kids, maybe there was something to it...............
