  • YATR (yet another tagging rant)

So another part-timer (S) is now doing the pricing stuff in the computer. I hope this means the head guy is just on vacation. The attrition rate in the store among truly competent people is getting too high for my liking. I like S, but I don't think she knows what she's doing; half the tags she had me put up on Wednesday I had to pull down and replace with the ones that came in last night (BG: The tags we print in-store are a thin sticker paper that sticks to everything it's not supposed to, doesn't stick to what it should and is impossible to remove; the official tags that are shipped in are a thicker rigid plastic that is IMO easier to work with)

One thing S did that P and I both like is she separated the tags by department and only gave us the grocery/center-store box (the only ones we should have anything to do with). Generally much smaller pile and easier to sort through if we aren't moving other batches out of the way. We almost finished the box, were it not for...

The suck: We discovered that a little over half of the box was "Low Price" tags which were in fact triplicated (or the item in question already had a sale tag, SM only wants one tag per item so we concentrate on the actual sale tags). And/or "new item" tags that were either past their pull date or stuff that has already been on the shelf for a month. Unfortunately the way the tags are sorted from the printer meant that we didn't figure out the extras until actually starting a batch--the stacks are just labeled by aisle, not type of tag. We also got about 80 pages of tags on sheets, which we didn't even touch (aside from my throwing out the ones I knew were doubles). Those are rarely if ever organized in any coherent fashion. As B said once, if I can't find it it probably doesn't exist (or if it does exist but is still in the stockroom, could someone please TELL US that it's not actually out yet, maybe label the batch as "New items--may not be on shelf" so we know not to throw them out?).

Also, some new tags had wrong prices. I would put up one sale tag with regular price $3.79, find another tag priced $3.69 reg...item scans at $3.79 regular price so that's the tag that stays.
"I am quite confident that I do exist."
"Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up." The Doctor
