I hope that nephew never goes near her again, for HIS sake! After all she put him and his parents through for being so horrible as to be a KID happy to see a beloved family member, best to avoid loving her or dealing with her.

I've seen a lot of stories where "kids will be kids" is used as an explanationexcuse for uncontrolled children destroying merchandise, but this is a case where it truly applies. As for what I bolded in the quotation from the story linked by the OP, they're slightly less common than unicorns or honest used car salesmen.

That I can see.

If it's a walk up, I'd not count on the stairs being the greatest. So she'd need to use the hand rail. If it's on that side, it'd be a problem.

And even if there are hand rails on both sides, she'd have trouble if she was carrying anything (groceries, for example).

It seems like there is more to this story. The family's insurance company did deny her claim(she's had two surgeries so far, expensive) and sometimes the only way to get to an insurance company is to sue the policy holder. (The laws are like that to protect big corporations.)

But why sue the kid? Legally, he's not responsible for things like that because he's a minor. Why not sue the parents for not supervising the kid or something along those lines?

if you read some of the stories including the desections from lawyers you would see if wasn't something malicious. it was because her insurance would only cover 1 dollar worth of her medical bills from the injury and the only way she could get it covered was by suing to get liability insurance to cover the expenses. just the one person she had to sue was the injurer which was her nephew.

i mean which would you do, struggle to pay thousands of dollars of medical bills or sue the relative responsible to have the expense paid under their insurance?
this happened before obama care after all.

It was a homeowners insurance company. The kid lived there.

She would've just sued the insurance company for the money they owed her but in her state the law doesn't allow that. So she had to sue the person who did the accident(the boy) so his insurance company(insurance on the house) would pay it.

IMO, this is another example of corporations screwing over the little guy
