  • So, yeah, about that "all day breakfast" at the Yellow M...

Apparently, Franchisees don't think it's such a good idea...

I'm not surprised... when I worked at a burger joint, they used the same grill for breakfast and lunch. The egg grease was perfectly okay for the burgers, but vice versa? No way. Not unless you like your eggs to taste like a hamburger, anyway. So when breakfast was done, it was DONE.

I mean, I like the idea because I am never up early enough for those delicious breakfast sandwiches. I'd completely understand people not wanting to do it though...I mean, it's not like you can fit MORE grills in an M's!

The other problem is that people are apparently (according to the article) shifting their order. So instead of ordering a $4 (or whatever) Big Mac, they're getting a $2 Biscuit.

So the stores (and hence franchisees) aren't making as much money, either.

Biscuit-based items aren't on the "All Day Breakfast" menu, at least not in my area, darn it! (I love Sausage Biscuits.)

Yes, Seanette, that's true for some regions. Some are doing biscuits, some are doing the "muffin sandwiches", and some are doing both.

And of course, my region is the "no biscuit" one. (grump)

Anything can be a breakfast if one's in the right mood for it.

OTOH, I wouldn't want to use those in a sandwich with sausage. Need something savory for that.

I actually hope they manage to work out the kinks. If I'm ever up before noon it's against my will, so even when I get a really bad craving for a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, it's often months (sometimes close to a year) before I actually get one.

They have the biscuits in my area, but I suspect that's because Southerners seem to have this (rather disgusting, IMO) habit of getting a plain meat biscuit (chicken and steak tend to be the favorites, but I've seen sausage and bacon too) and putting grape jelly on it. Hubs puts jelly on his hash browns too and I swear that has to be some kind of sacrilege.
The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains gives hope to many people.

I meant jam jelly not jello jelly but I figure it would taste about the same.

I went to a McD for the first time in a very long time last week. I walked in and saw touchscreen ordering monitor next to the door. It was then that I noticed that this location has spent a ton of money to update the look of the place.
The first bad thing I saw was that they had one person taking orders during lunch and the manager was standing next to the touchscreen trying to get people to order using that rather than wait. People didn't want to use it.
The next bad thing was the price. It was almost as much as Redhead Burger.
The last and the biggest problem was when I got my burger. It was terrible. Even the fresh, hot fries didn't taste good. They spent all this money to make the place look better and did nothing to improve the food.

                              Not going back anytime soon.

I hope they take it down and put up an all day lunch menu instead. I don't like their breakfast items too much. Now to think of it, their lunch sucks too, except for the salads.
