  • Holy hell man!

Titan came home with a story from Roger's grocery store.

Apparently, about 4am a tweaker came in and started making a mess. Then he started being belligerent to customers and staff alike. Tweaker then hit a customer. Security tried to get him to leave, and he attacked security.

Security breaks out his "Bitch be good stick" (TM) and bends it on the tweaker.

Security is then transferred to another store.

Apparently if you hit a customer, you're transferred.(But was he really a customer?)

Despite the fact that Tweaker hit an actual customer first?! And then attacked Security? And probably would've hit more people if Security hadn't stopped him. I'm sorry, but Roger's corporate is in the head. Tweaker was out of control, could've seriously hurt someone, didn't Corporate consider that?!

I wouldn't consider Tweaker a customer, not after damaging store property and assaulting legit customers. What, are they afraid Tweaker will sue the store? Let him; there's more than enough eyewitnesses to get that case laughed out of court. Did the police show up?
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

This is so far from screwed up it's pathetic! Tweaker was out of control, what was Security supposed to do - offer them a lollipop?

After Tweaker attacked a customer the gloves come off, attack a security guard and you've written your own ticket to the hospital.

Management should be grateful security DID THEIR JOB - after this garbage you can bet security will quickly disappear into the woodwork to avoid any confrontation that might cost them their job.

Your management team should be tarred and feathered...

I heard a certain logic behind things like this once a while ago. After an altercation like this, the guard is often transferred not as punishment, but to avoid future entanglements between the guard and the problem individual and/or his friends.

Never underestimate the capacity of people to escalate matters instead of simply walking away - this is especially true for 'trustees of modern chemistry'. Seriously, if the tweaker attacked a customer and then security, he's already demonstrated poor decision-making skills and a tendency for irrational actions. Who knows what else he might do as 'revenge'?

There are also public relations reasons for reassigning the guard. It's to create the illusion that the guard was 'disciplined'.

Which, unfortunately, is needed because you can bet your butt that relatives of the tweaker would go screaming to the media that tweaker "is a great guy and wouldn't hurt anyone, ever!" And don't forget the classic, "He was just getting his life together when you attacked him for no reason!!"
When you start at zero, everything's progress.

Yeah, it's basically so tweaker, his friends, or family can't seek revenge.

Well that's good to hear. What are the odds that tweaker and/or friends might try something? I can't seriously see any lawsuit surviving the laugh test...

It wouldn't be a lawsuit, that's the sad part. It would most likely be a physical attack of some sort on the guard. I'd say that in about six months the guard will be back at this location because by then the tweaker and his buddies have likely given up on trying to retaliate. Or at least that is the hope!

Or O.D'd, forgotten the whole thing in yet another high, wound up in jail for something else, or found another target for revenge. That's usually how it works, sadly.

That is what I was thinking, it reduces that chances of the person coming back to get revenge on the guard. As along as the guard gets the same pay and no black marks on his record I think this could be a good idea.

But what if the guard chose that particular store to work at because of its geographic convenience? Kind of sucks if he now has to drive several miles more per day just to get to essentially the same job.

Agreed, but it's probably worth it - and I would hope company would pay for the extra driving/milage. BTW, was the Tweaker arrested by the police or just ejected? And is there a permaban in place (if not there should be)?

Unfortunately that is the stupid thing about being a security guard. You physically stop someone your told "Why did you get physical you should of just called police!" but if you don't stop them your yelled at 'Why didn't you stop him!!!" although for this guard i'm guessing the reason he may have gotten transferred is that he used the "bitch be good stick" as you called it. Most places it's illegal for security guards to carry any type of weapons such as batons, maze, tasers etc. so he may have gotten reprimanded for carrying a weapon
