  • I Don't Remember Being at Work

So, I know I went to work today. Pretty sure I got home two hours ago, and I'm wearing my uniform,...but I don't remember being there.

I had to text my boss and get him to confirm for me. I literally lost six hours somewhere and according to the people I was on with I worked really well.

I'm really confused. Anyone else had this happen?

    Are you otherwise feeling OK?

I feel tired. My feet hurt, and I have a burning urge to down a bottle of wine. Aside from all that, I feel normal.

All I remember is texting a coworker at 6am about an order going out early. Patting my cat at around 7am. Then I was sitting in my computer chair at 6pm, tired and irritable and wearing a work uniform.

Which is weird, because according to Dane, I was joking about work on the car ride home. I'm starting to get flashes. Squeezing past my coworker, my boss hugging me, and laughing and patting another coworker on the back. But only when I was touching someone else?

I get a sort of "amnesia" between home and work. I often won't remember what happened at work until I get to work the next day. I think it's a coping strategy so I don't stress out about work too much. I've learned to write myself a note if there's something I need to remember when I get home, because I know I won't remember otherwise.

There's also the effect that one day is often very much like another at work. You do a lot of the same tasks in the same locations, so your brain doesn't commit the most recent instance to long-term memory. Kind of the same sort of thing as not remembering your drive to work because nothing noteworthy happened.

If you're not having any other health issues, Latekin, I wouldn't worry about it.
"I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Sounds like the perfect work day... I wonder if it's replicable?

I've driven places on autopilot before. Never did a whole workday on it, though!

Happened to me. You may have sleep apnea. I ended up having a neurological evaluation and they think it may be my anemia. I have lost time a few times. It relates to my anemia they hope. Right now off work till they can figure it out. I blacked out while driving so.... Yeah.

Every once in awhile I have to go back to the timeclock and confirm that I did actually punch in. Usually that happens when I wear my uniform to work, it's ridiculously busy and SCs/managers start yelling for my attention before I'm even in the front doors so my mind's in six places at once.

Our work has such a huge problem with missed punches, there are notes multiple places to check your punch every time no matter what. It's a pain for the managers to fix, mostly because the employee has to sign some paperwork about it. If you mess up, realize it, and go fill out the paperwork then the manager doesn't have to track you down later, and it's just easier. New Manager said that two missed punches would get you fired, but this was not true, and I'm SO GLAD she's gone.
