  • RIP, David Bowie

    https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/lege...064252101.html

Usually celebrity deaths don't bother me but I grew up watching Labyrinth so this one really struck a blow.

Damn. I really liked him, too. Loved his music.

Oh wow. Just read an article about him in Entertainment at work. Think he had a new album coming out.

Damn. Never even knew he had cancer. 69 is not that old.

I visited Madame Tussaud's shortly after his installation in '84. He will be missed.

Oddly enough, my uncle actually went to school with him - he still has a photo of the school football team, with him on the back row and David Jones (as he was then) on the middle row.

But yes - shocked isn't the word. I never expected to hear of his death... he seemed ageless and immortal.

Robin Williams did too, at least to me. I have to remind myself sometimes that being famous doesn't grant immortality, at least not the kind fans like us would want.

Same. Both are/were shockers to me when I saw them mentioned.

Bowie is my all time favorite singer and actor. I sat through the Hunger just because he was in it. And if you ever read the book Man Who Fell to Earth - no one else could have played that part (could have done without the "oatmeal" scene though).
I had to hunt down my old tapes to find Laughing Gnome today - just to hear him be silly.
My SO came home to find me listening to Ziggy and didn't have to ask if I'd heard.
