We finally make it back to IJUMP and get seated...

15 minutes pass and no drinks, nor food order taken. 5 minutes into sitting here he passed by and said he'd be with us in a minute.

Our order is finally taken... 5 minutes later we get our drinks.

Our food comes out, someone else brought it to us. Empty drink has been sitting next to me at least 5 minutes. I ask person who brought our food for a refill.

I realize I need mustard for my burger(I always forget they make the burgers dry) and am able to flag down our waiter who tells me "I'll be right back with it." I proceed to watch him put syrup on all the unoccupied tables in his section before he brings me the mustard. My burger is now cold, and I'm out of drink again. I send him for more drink. This time it's timely. I'm pretty sure that's because he sees fiance is done with his food and thinks we'll forget about the rest of the shitty service.

Check comes as I'm polishing off my cold burger, and I tell fiance he better not tip well for that service. The restaurant was NOT BUSY and we were left alone WAY too long WAY too often.

Sounds like the IJUMP off of the interstate (by Rummel) back home. Consistently terrible service, even when they have more people working than they know what to do with. By contrast, the one out by the airport is the complete opposite.

Reminds me of a local place where we walked in, told to sit anywhere we wanted, and were roundly ignored for at least 15 minutes while the server walked in, gave a guy his check, served another guy, looked around, and left. I assume we went invisible.

        We went somewhere else.

One time when we were having dinner at Friendly's, the waitress spilled a drink on my wife. The waitress was pretty freaked out about out, but we understood that accidents happen.

When happened next was inexcusable. The waitress never came back to clean up the mess, see if we needed anything else, or bring us our check. Every so often, she'd briefly venture back into the dining area, and then vanish again before any of us could try to get her attention. We finished our food with ice cubes all over the table, and ended up going up front to get our check -- and to speak to the manager.

The manager was understandably furious, although we made sure to point out we weren't upset about the accident, just about the subsequent vanishing act. He gave us a free half-galloon of ice cream to make up for it. I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted to be in that waitress's shoes when he got to her.

There is a diner that sweetie and I like to go to for breakfast. We usually get great service and they know that we are patient and tip well. We went in one Sunday and it was really busy. We waited for over 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order and then walked out. (We were there because we were hungry.) We didn't go back for over 3 months and when we did, all of the wait staff were different.

            I don't know what happened.

Had that happen to lil Ray and me at our local ijump. I realize some wait staff see a single mom with a lil one and think oh no, no tip there. We sat, waited and waited. Finally got drinks and food ordered.... To go. The manager was horrified we'd waited so long, and I didn't go back to that location for years....

I believe I once posted about an incident where my extended family went out for dinner.

The waiter took our order, brought out our drinks and food, then more or less ignored us for the rest of the evening. When my aunt accidentally knocked over a glass of water he walked past and smirked, but did nothing to either help or flag down someone else to help. I ended up having to run to another section to ask if I could borrow some towels, at which point that waitress came over and helped us clean up.

Needless to say the waiter got no tip, and we had a whip-round and tracked down the waitress who helped us to give her a tip.

*Note* I'm a Brit, so tips don't make up part of wait staff's basic income. They are a bonus for good/excellent service, so no fratching-territory comments about tipping, please!

I once went to a restaurant for a meal after shopping all morning. I sometimes decide to go to a proper restaurant for lunch, rather than grabbing a Subway; this was one of those times. Anyway, the waitress said, "Table for one?" in a snotty tone of voice, obviously implying that no-one should ever dine alone, and led me to a booth. She then proceeded to completely ignore me for fifteen minutes, despite me trying to get her attention all the time, preferring to dance attendance on a small group instead. Eventually, hungry and annoyed, I went to the front and asked to see the manager. When he arrived, I pointed out the waitress and told him that she had been rude to me when I arrived then ignored me for fifteen minutes.

He was horrified and offered to comp my drinks and dessert if I stayed. I agreed to, but only if I had someone else waiting on me, not her. The waiter who came to serve me was attentive, polite and really nice the whole time. Afterwards, I tipped him a fiver, more than I would usually tip, but I wanted to show the bitchy waitress what she'd missed.

As it happened, I got the feeling from the manager that this wasn't the first time that someone had complained about her. I went back to that restaurant several times after that day but never saw her again.

I had a waitress once be perfectly fine. Attentive, friendly, etc. I was out to eat alone, just me and my book. My order was something like 9 dollars, and I tipped her five. I had sat there for a couple of hours, but it was around midnight, and dead slow. She had two other tables besides me. She gathered up my tip, and went into the kitchen where I overheard her complaining that the "fat bitch with the book" only gave her 5 dollars and no wonder I had to eat alone. I asked for a manager, and explained the situation and requested my tip back.

He not only got the tip from the waitress, he comped my meal. I went back a few times, but I've never seen her again

And why am I not surprised they were never seen again?

Seriously, if you treat your customers like crap and bring a bad rep to the restaurant don't be surprised when you're shown the door...

That's outrageous...she had the gall to complain about a tip that was over FIFTY PERCENT, and to do so within earshot of said customer?!

No doubt! Some waitresses would give their right boob () for a tip percentage like that.

In any other situation I would say the server was complaining about a customer camping (ie. there for 2 hours during a semi-busy time) BUT since it was a dead night with only 1 or 2 other tables I see nothing to complain about.

Beautifully handled by both manager and replacement waiter. And your tip was doubtless appreciated!
