  • Smoke Free Arizona

ok back in voiting season a very demanding anti-smoking law was passed, about on the first it finally went in affect. I have to admit ive been waiting gleefully for to come in affect. Why?? SCs who smoke in the drive thru.
Now the basics of the smoking ban are out lined here- http://www.smokefreearizona.org/

Now thats all fine and dandy, but i can for see a few SCs saying i cant refuse to serve them in the drive thru if they are smokeing, because they arent smoking in the resteraunt. Hello exception rule!!! http://www.smokefreearizona.org/exemptions.asp
Im going to sooooo point out that it is illegel since the smoke can enter through the drive thru window, and i can refuse to serve someone who is breaking the law. because it clearly says '...so long as tobacco smoke does not enter areas where smoking is prohibited through entrances, windows, ventilation systems, or other means'
Smoking SCs you have meet your match.
    Hello happy lungs

On July 1st, nightclubs here will be non-smoking! I'll finally be able to breathe as I drink & dance the night away! I'm feeling the love.

Sometimes I find myself feeling sorry for smokers. And then I remember that I'm dating a POLITE smoker, a kind of smoker you barely find anymore.....

When I hear people complaining about not being able to smoke in certain cities or states, I take a good look at them. Usually, the ones doing the most complaining are the rudest smokers.

I still feel for my bf though, who is the politest smoker I've ever met....and that's coming from someone allergic to cigarette smoke.

On the upside, those nasty ass customers that reek of stale cheap cigs they haven't bothered to wash off for a week..... ......its gotta be fun to be able to screw with the bad ones.

I consider myself a polite smoker..........except when it comes to dating rude non smokers. If they don't like it, they can find someone else. I won't quit smoking for any guy, and I hate dating nonsmokers who hide my cigarettes while I'm in the bathroom or even flat out crush my cigarette packs or have the nerve to take them right out of my mouth or steal my lighter.

I love it when people say, "I'm going out for some fresh air" and then they go out and smoke. Doesn't really add up people! I know I'm a bit off topic.

I do feel a little sorry for people who started smoking more than twenty years ago before the bans really started being enacted and before the hazards of second hand smoke were well known. Social pressure to start smoking was incredible even though the health warnings were everywhere. Those people now are addicted and have no place to get their next "fix". My former boss wanted and tried to quit many times, but nothing worked for him. He almost was fired for smoking in his office. He ended up having to stand out by the building’s dumpsters seven or eight times a day.

Not that I want any of the bans to be lifted!

I don't smoke, I think it's disgusting. However these bans are idiotic. Don't want to go to a club and smell the smoke? Don't go to the club. Or find a non smoking one. Same thing for people who work in these places and complain. Hello, why'd you apply for the job then?

I'm a smoker and these laws don't really bother me. It just means I get to go outside and collect my thoughts. Of course, no one has ever refused me service at a drive thru either- not sure how that would go over with me...

                blas~
I know exactly what you mean.
I attempt to keep my cigarette away from people and stand away from doors, etc. so people don't have to walk through the smoke.
I hate it when I'm outside- out of the way- minding my own business and a non- smoker decides to "protest". Instead of choosing one of the many places away from me and my cigarette they choose to stand right on top of me and make fake coughing noises. For this stupidity I have zero sympathy.

And crushing/hiding my cigs is a good way to make me angry... you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...

I'm a non-smoker and I also think the whole thing is pretty nasty, but the persecution of smokers is really getting out of hand.

Living close to an airport will do just about the same damage to your health, and drunks kill more nightly than smokers do in a year.

But, yeah. Smoking at the drive-thru can be pretty nasty. Although, to be honest, most of the drive-thrus I've been to have a blower over the window. You couldn't get smoke into the building even if you were trying.

our blower blows the air INTO the resteraunt, and im allergic to cig smoke.
Currently i have to be really rude to the smokers in the drive thru, or at least thats what my manager thought. I can't talk to them or open the window for them other to give them their food and drinks and collect the money. so it means to keep from choking i have to slam the window shut after i collect money and after i had things over, meaning i don't even ask them how they are today. i can only say two things- the total and 'here you go, thats everything, bye'
so now i can at least preform my job, when they follow the law.

Your blower blows in? So, basically, any bugs that fly by your window get blown into the building and you get to suck car exhaust all shift?

Those blowers aren't meant to blow outside air in, but inadvertently do.

Theatrical performance upon a stage or in the course of a film production or television production if the smoking is part of the performance of production.

I was thrilled when Colorado went indoors smoke free. Though I didn't realize until months later that it meant that there was also no smoking in theatrical performances too. We had to use fake powder cigarettes for our last show, and those had to be drained of the powder before each show to prevent people from complaining. So y'all lucked out.

I was very happy when California went non-smoking and we had a restaurant at the time. Unfortunately, if a business is given the choice to be smoking or non, the business will go with the option that will bring in the most money and that would be a non restrictive environment (smoking).
But I'm a firm believer that a smoke-free environment is a right and anyone who chooses to smoke is the one who needs to make the sacrifices. Cigarette smoke isn't something that children, or asthmatics should have to deal with in a public place. Same with distributors or delivery personale in any business.

Well, you see, that's just it. Businesses are not public places, as much as people seem to want to believe that they are.

The library, the park, city hall... those are all public places.

Night clubs, restaurants, shops... those are all private property. The owner of the property should be the one that gets to decide whether a site allows smoking or not, not the government.

I hate cigarette smoke, but I hate invasive laws even more.
