  • Well I'm off to a lovely start....

So 4 weeks into my new job, and I'm pretty well disliked.

I can't really blame them; I'm a slow learner. Especially with vague instructions like when I'm stacking these metal racks the other day and the guy says "First you stack three or four or them one way, then flip em and do em the other way." What? What other way? Vertically? perpendicular? Flip them over? Backwards? WTF do you want? And I don't necessarily know all the terminology that I guess is common knowledge (did you know that when you turn a stack of papers on its side and tap them on the desk to line them all up, its called "jogging"?)

My attendance is called into question as well, which I sort of understand but I also feel misled. There's been a few times, for child care reasons, I've had to either come in an hour late or leave an hour early. I understand this is not always ok but I was told "oh that's fine! It's perfectly ok!"

Then I get this e-mail about alllll my absences. Apparently I've missed 6 days of work so far. Except I haven't. The only full days I've missed have been tuesday and wednesday of this week because I've had some health problems and I even went to the doc and spent several hours there with them trying to figure out whats up with me. I also was absent the second week but that was because they sent me home (I was throwing up). While I wasn't there that day, I showed up in good faith and they chose to send me home so it shouldn't count against me.

If they had told me the first time "We'll let it slide this once but don't let it happen again." I might have done things differently. But now I'm on 30 days probation and if I have any more scheduling problems I'm done. I know damn well I won't be able to make the next four weeks with absolutely no scheduling issues at all. Should I just tell them to call it good and I'm done?
