    Hi everyone

So I've been at my new job, working the desk at the Big Green E Suites for about a month. So far it's been a blast. My coworkers are great, the guests are nice, and while the atrium is still under renovation and we've had our fair share of whining about that, for the most part customers have been more understanding than expected. I'm also making more in tips than I did my old job, so whohoo free money!

That said, you can't be in a forward-facing position without running into a few people who just want to be pills.

One such “lady” (or rather female) was all bent out of shape that the bartender wasn’t at her station every second (bartender does need to stock thing). She came to the front desk to whine about it, I went and found the bartender. Apparently said SC gave her a cat butted “I’ve been WAITING” and when the bartender apologized and asked what he could get for the SC, the SC didn’t know what she wanted!

The other one is a guest who checked in yesterday with a “service dog.” The dog wasn’t on a lead, wasn’t wearing a vest, and while well behaved, wasn’t exhibiting the focus a genuine service animal usually does. Whatever, ADA doesn’t let me question it and as long as the dog doesn’t wreak the room (which we’d charge the guest for, service animal or not) no biggie.

However the same guy decided to grouch about everything. Apparently, during a renovation, it’s “ridiculous” (said with a super snotty tone) that one of the guest elevators (out of three) isn’t working right, and that the bar ran out of tequila. Hey Your Highness, it’s Saturday night, people drank it all, now order something else or go away.

Oh and there was the bloody bullet found in a second floor room but I’ve seen / heard about weirder. No injuries reported that night and nothing about a shooting in local news so who knows.

The only CoC stuff I’ve run into is the morning girl who seems to have an allergy to work and the night auditor who showed up (once) smelling of booze.

Tequila, rum, gin, vodka, any of them can get you drunk. The bullet is a little disturbing. So many questions. And I had no idea people tipped the front desk clerk. Is it when you do something extra or just in general? Not that I travel much but I'm curious.

I also drive the shuttle and my tips usually come from that. I also help elderly / mobility challenged / children herding guests with their luggage and they sometimes tip me, but the shuttle is the most lucrative. Its nice to tip the front desk if they do something extra (like make copies or arrange for your transportation) but you don't have to. We get an hourly wage that doesn't make us reliant on tips (unlike, say a server at a restaurant).
