  • Cancelled Appointment, But No Notice

Earlier this week I called Pet smart to make a grooming appointment for our cat (she's long haired and desperately needs it). Set an appointment for Thursday morning. Wednesday they call to confirm the appointment. Thursay my husband goes to drop her off only to find out that the appointment has been cancelled because the only groomer scheduled who had cat experience called off. But we were never called or notified about this, and wasted a trip there. My husband was told that only the manager could reschedule it, and they weren't in but would call at some point during the day, and that we should receive either a free or discounted appointment. Waited all day and no one ever called so around 5 pm we called them again, got the appointment rescheduled for Memorial Day and the manager confirmed they'd do a discounted or free appointment. So fingers crossed that the appointment doesn't get cancelled again.

Okay, fine, only the manager can reschedule, but surely somebody lower in the food chain can call customers to tell them the appointment is off??

I had something similar happen here; there is a vet's office a mere 2-minute ride from the house. I made an appointment with Dr. X (highly recommended) for a Thursday. Lug my two cats in there on the appointed day only to be told that Dr. X is never in on Thursdays.

    I found another vet.

Are you sure the person who made the appointment wasn't April Ludgate?

No, but I know I've felt like doing that on occasion!

Dang about having to pack kitty into a carrier and take her for a car ride just to find out that her suffering and wailing was for naught!

We used to have a Maine Coon (not a good choice for Arizona, but he followed me home one day). He needed a crew cut twice a year and I first used a Petco groomer. She was afraid of him, so his cuts were pretty ragged looking.

She quit and nobody else there was willing to work with a very mellow 22 lb cat who enjoyed getting all of his icky, matted and hot hair cut off.

I went to a privately owned pet grooming place and found someone perfect. She was a little more expensive and said that she hated cats, but as soon as I brought him in, he was purring and she was cooing. She did the best cuts ever and I followed her from shop to shop.

So, what I'm trying to say is find a groomer, not a store. Groomers tend to move around so you want to find the one that works for kitty and you.

            'Twasn't a cat. 'Twas a dog.

The only reason I gave Pet smart another chance is because they were willing to make another appointment at a discount or free. The kitty was definitely not happy about leaving the house, especially since it was raining. We just adopted her in February and she rarely ventures outside my daughter's room and this was the first time she'd been out since we adopted her, so she really wasn't thrilled with the situation.

I definitely plan on looking for a groomer next tine The only real issue though is that we live next to a couple wealthy neighborhoods so the prices are already marked up, then you add in that it's a private groomer, and it's even more expensive. And of course there are only a handful of businesses in our neighborhood, and no groomers. I may have to just expand our search to other areas of the city.
