  • Where Do I Go for Lunch?

I didn't have a lunch to bring today, so this puts me in a quandary. There's no grocery store in the town where I work, and there's four restaurants. Restaurant #1 is owned by Betty, and I'm pretty sure she still doesn't have insurance. Restaurant #2 and #3 are owned by a shyster who took advantage of one of our elderly customers and stole most of his money and his house. So I guess that means I'm going to restaurant #4, which is an A&W drive-in. It's not exactly healthy food, but ethically I feel it is the correct choice.

Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Go with your gut on this one. Personally, I love A&W.

I now feel deprived as I have never been to an A&W (although I hear there's one in or near ABQ so may get a chance next month...if it still exists).

A&W may not be healthy but it is tasty. I'd take Betty over the shyster. :P That's just wrong.

Betty's about as much a shyster as the shyster: in the story Ghel linkis to, it's mentioned that Betty's employees often can't cash their cheques at the bank because there's not enough money in the account to cover the cheques.

I too love A&W. Wouldn't want to eat there on a daily basis, but in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate. I've always loved their onion rings in particular.

It sounds like at least Betty's might be a decent place to eat. At least from what I remember, I could be wrong.

I haven't been to Betty's in years, but I remember her food being merely ok. Not bad, but not great, either. Typical "greasy spoon" fare.

A&W was yummy. And yes, I had their onion rings. The whole reason for going there, IMO. Definitely a once-in-a-while thing, though.

I did something similar one day last week. Off, and running errands etc. Including taking mom's car in for service, and bringing it back to her. I then had to go to both Target and the grocery store, and was starving. so while I almost never eat ff, there is a Wendy's on my way home. So I stopped and grabbed a quick lunch. Including a .50 Frosty. Oh yummy!

You can shop ethically AND get yummy food. Stick with the A&W.

I'd worry about what Betty might do to a bank employee's food. After all, Ghel has had the utter gall to demand that she pay money she owes.

Though I have an entirely different take on why, in addition to avoiding Betty at all costs, I agree that choice # 4 is the distinct winner.
