  • Could yet ANOTHER social media site work?

I've often heard that copycat things like that don't work. I mean, I understand MySpace is still around, but it's not nearly as popular as it used to be. There's also Google+, Instagram, FaceBook, PInterest, Flickr, etc...

All social Media sites, all with slightly different purposes (though I fail to see much of a distinction between Instagram and PInterest).

So would another social media site work?

As of 2015, and according to this site: http://wersm.com/how-much-are-social...-really-worth/

The top five social media sites are worth about a gazillion dollars each. Which I would probably need if I ever want to live in one of these houses:

    https://www.archivaldesigns.com/home...one-house-plan

    https://www.archivaldesigns.com/home...ral-house-plan

    https://www.archivaldesigns.com/home...ate-house-plan

    https://www.archivaldesigns.com/home...ion-house-plan

So I guess the real answer is twofold. I suppose "if it's done right", and "successfully coerce people to use it" are big factors. And considering each one has about a zillion users, that's a tall order (though I'm sure there's crossover, people who have accounts across platforms).

So would yet another social media site work? And what would you, personally, like to see in a social media site?

    Asking for a friend.

If the creators of the new social media site can generate enough interest, AND especially if they can offer something that current sites don't, they can likely get enough people online to make it work.

For how long -- well, that's another question. Social media sites are not generally the sort of thing that attract really long-term interest. Remember the Farmville craze? Pretty sure it's well down the list of popular online games these days. I've read that Facebook itself is seeing its membership dropping; can't verify that, though (mostly because I don't care enough to check it out, LOL).

What would I personally like to see in a SMS? Can't really think of anything. I've largely lost interest in Facebook because there's too much hysteria and vitriol on it. I'm spending more time these days in various groups (like this one ) where there are rules and they are enforced. Facebook's enforcement of its rules seems to be all over the map.
