  • Anybody familiar with this company?

    World Financial Group

Former classmate wants me to come to an "open house" for them ... I don't know if she's hoping I'll buy something or she's hoping I'll sell stuff FOR them. She didn't specify. I'm always wary of this kind of thing. Last time I had a similar situation, the woman (NOT the same person) tried to get me to join one of those multilevel marketing companies ... Amway.

Ahhhh ... another multilevel marketing company ... Amway by a different name. Thanks, csquared. My crystal ball tells me I'll have a shift at the store that night ...

(It's the store's last week open thank goodness, so it will be a viable excuse.)

Wow, they seem to have racked up quite the list of regulatory issues ...

So I responded to the invite by saying I had found work (true) but would keep this in mind. I thought that would be the end of it.

But nooooo. Here's the response I found today:

Well, we actually help people "find" money. I just helped a family "find" 1400/mth and working with a single male now and are probably going to find about 860/mth

All righty then ... sign me up!

Yeah, that doesn't jack up my basic cynicism into the stratosphere at all ...

Funny thing is, this person was the valedictorian in the two-year college program I took. Why is she not working in the field?

I can help you find money. By rummaging around under the settee I helped a family "find" 14.00/mth and working with a single male now, turning out those old coat pockets are probably going to find about 8.60/mth (amidst other things....)

My response to that would be along the lines of, "Good for you. Still not interested."

What is an "mth"? Month? As in 1400 a month?

I find money all the time, even though my wife constantly tells me not to look at the ground while I'm walking.

That's how I interpreted it ... she has "found" $1,400 a month for this family.
                Like you, I "find" money frequently ... look, there's a dime ... oh, there's a nickel ...
It certainly does help to keep watching the ground!

mjr, I've decided to just stop responding at all. I've got two new jobs to learn, I've got to get moving on packing up my mother's house (unless I want to have literally EVERYTHING go to the dump, which I do not) and so on and so on. She's edging into "pushy" now ...

                    Good one!

And I may have to gear up for at least some level of rudeness ... now she has PM'd me to ask if I'd be "up" for a telephone call from So-and-so.

I have learned a lot from my cats. Watch how intently I can ignore you ....

She helped them 'find' money, not earn it, by getting family members to sign up for whatever the hell she's trying to sell.

How about next time tell her you want to 'earn' money not 'find' it and see what happens.

Exactly, since that's how those things work.

I haven't responded to her last PM; I'll see if silence will do the job. If not, yes, I'll have to get short and sharp with her.
