    At 230am the other night on my audit shift a woman came in for a room. When I asked her for a type of payment she told me her apartment manager said she had an arrangement with our hotel. I told her that did not sound right and looked up all our direct bill accounts. There were none with the apartment name nor with the name she gave me.

    I told her that we did not have billing arrangements and would need a credit card. Her card was declined and she pushed the issue some more. She asked me if I was new. She kept insisting we had payment arrangements. I kept telling her I would need a printed statement saying her manager would pay for her room. I mean, really, who shows up in the middle of the night with no proof?

    She left.

    I would have my doubts too, no paperwork, no money, no credit card, no room.

      Yep. It's not like you can take the night's lodging back if the landlord doesn't pay.

      I could see a hotel being flexible in certain circumstances - like a crime victim or an apartment that has to be evacuated due to a gas leak, etc. - but you have to have SOMETHING to go on, like a call from the landlord or a police officer saying "this person is legit."

            Could this woman simply have the wrong hotel?
