  • How is "Verdana" pronounced?

I have always pronounced it like Ver-dahn-ah or Ver-don-ah

But how is it supposed to be pronounced? Ver-dan-ah, Ver-don-ah, Ver-dahn-ah, or what?

    I Googled it and got "Ver-DAN-nah" ...

At least, that's what YouTube says.

I thought it was something like that. It's like the whole "gif" debate. Hard or soft g?

Some people pronounce it like "gift" without the T, some pronounce it "jiff". I say it the first way, because that's how I learned it, and the "G" stands for graphics, and the "g" in graphic is pronounced in a specific way.

In my world .gif is pronounced like 'gift' leaving off the 't' because 'jif' is peanut butter.

        I'm a case study.

The guy who created the format says it is meant to rhyme with the peanut butter ('jif') -- but what really matters is how people use it and say it, I suppose ^_^

There's a trick you can use, plug the word into google translate, then click the little speaker icon in the window you typed it into.

Heh...does that mean we use "jraphics" instead of "graphics"?

That's when you put the screen 8 or 10 feet up, and it's spelled "giraphphics".
