  • Knock-down drag out Wedding

My youngest daughter just came in from having catered a wedding reception or at least she tried to do so.
The bride and mother of the groom do not like each other. The mother of the bride and the groom do not like each other. Neither set of parents even offered to any part of the wedding and had to begged to attend.
Long story short the groom's mom stole the bride's dress and replaced it with her own wedding dress. The groom's mom also didn't like the cake and destroyed it. The bride kicked her MIL butt and the groom let her.
Daughter said it took 3 hours to clean up afterwords. Oh the bride, groom. groom's mom and bride's mom were all toted off to jail.

Oh, what a happy family. Tell me there's not going to be any grandkids.

The guests will be talking about this one for years to come.

Would be interesting to start a betting pool on whether they make it to their first anniversary ...

If the newlyweds ended up in jail on their wedding night, I can only imagine what's in store for their first anniversary.

Bet they're a load of fun at parties and funerals.

In the newlyweds' defense, the Op said that the husband supported his wife and NOT his mother. That should go a long way.

I called a friend with the jail and he said they're in until Monday maybe later.
This morning my mother-in-law said you can remove folks from the projects but you can't remove the projects from those folks.
I asked my daughter if she got paid up-front. She said most of it and isn't expecting to get the rest. She said what she did get covered her expenses.
I thought parts of my family were trashy red-necks but this bunch left my family in the dirt.

              Well, that's definitely a positive sign ...

Heh, reminds me of a news item from some years ago. Happened in Quebec, I think.

Bride was about 16, groom a couple years older I think. Someone started a fight in the church during the ceremony. Not only were the couple involved, but also parents AND THE MINISTER.

Can't remember all the details but someone ended up knocked out, and everyone was hauled off to jail. Not very auspicious beginning to a marriage.

Damn. I always make the comment "Are the bride and groom married and nobody's in jail or dead? Game over, you win."

Guess they didn't win that wedding...

Sarcasm dear, sarcasm. I’m well aware that dealing with civilians in any capacity will skin your faith in humanity alive, then pickle anything that remains so as to watch it shrivel up into an immortal husk thus reminding you of how dead inside you now are.

The Etiquette Hell website is full of stories like that, including a truly epic one which the site owner claims is true. It involves a quick but beautiful military wedding - well, beautiful until some horrible relative showed up with her extended family, friends, and even a few pets in tow. Things escalated so quickly at the restaurant where the reception was being held that several people, including the best man, were arrested.

According to my daughter the bride and groom are out and off on their honeymoon. The moms are still locked up and waiting for a judge to let them out. The word on the dress is the groom's mom wanted the bride to wear her dress, the bride didn't want to and bought her own. The mom stole the dress before the bride could get dressed and left her dress behind. Now who would you first suspect? The bride also didn't want the cake the g-mom wanted so the g-mom push it over. It's no wonder the bride fought her. My kid also said all three women had black-eyes and split lips, she said it looked like a trash-panda convention.
