  • Robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorized cart

OK, so I don't know anything about the cart thief. I was checking out at the grocery store this morning. The checker and the bagger were talking about an incident that happened yesterday.

Someone had taken one of their motorized carts all the way home. When the checker drove around to try to locate it, she was unsuccessful and theorized that the person brought it into their home or garage.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

I presume the cart will not serve them for long... if I were building such a system, I'd certainly include some spoiler such as a nonstandard plug for recharging (or just a keyed cover over the socket).

Who the hell steals a motorized cart if it's impossible to recharge at home?

Most of the local stores around where I live use a system where if the cart gets out of range of a radio signal it shuts down and won't work.

Those carts usually have a standard plug for recharging, so they can be recharged anywhere. Radio control is usually an extra that doesn't always get paid for.

If the cart wasn't taken home by a little old lady, then I'd expect it was taken to be stripped of anything that could be sold at a recycle center. Batteries, wiring, even the steel frame all become cash. (and from there, likely some sort of chemical recreation product)
