  • The right call, or a nit-pick?

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/ma...ngo/ar-AAvHgU5

The complete answer was on the board.

Instead of saying "Flamenco Dance Lessons" he said, "Flamingo Dance Lessons".

    correct call, or nit-pick?

Keep in mind, "Jeopardy!" will sometimes consider a response wrong if you don't pronounce it "correctly".

From the article I saw, It's not the first time something like that has happened. Thing is, I'm hard-of-hearing, so I'm the wrong person to ask if something's a distinct mispronunciation, wrong word, or slurred enunciation. Even so, I figure setting up for situations like that isn't just a dick move, it's a dick gameboard.

Speaking of Jeopardy, one article I saw on this "flub" noted an episode of Jeopardy where the contestant was given a wrong answer for saying "Gangster's Paradise" instead of "Gangsta's Paradise" when referring to the song by Coolio.

My guess is that the (just off-screen) judges made those calls. On "Flamenco"...well, they ARE different words ...so I dunno. On the other, I would have given him a pass.

The judges go by relevance to the proper word. Now even though often times Flamenco dancers dress like colourful birds, a flamingo and the Flamenco dance are considerably different.
