  • You let THAT on the train...?

Was getting off the train a few towns over on the way to a movie this morning, and saw one of the more bizarre things I've seen on public transit...some homeless-looking dude pushing a SHOPPING CART heaped to the brim with full trash bags (some of which spilled out onto the boarding platform) onto the train! I can understand letting on bicycles, strollers and wheelchairs (even well-behaved dogs), but THAT? I'm just happy it was my stop and I wouldn't have been stuck on the train with some hobo's sole material possessions wafting stench in my face. Even if it were just filled with someone's regular groceries, what ticket-taker would allow a full shopping cart onto his train?

I see that a lot here in Los Angeles. Sometimes more than one cart.

I'm kind of lucky over here - for most of the major stations (and a number of the minor stations) over here, the gates are too narrow to allow shopping trolleys through without a serious effort.

The stations that don't have gates on the other hand...oy vey.

Even if the ticket-taker/conductor/whatever wanted to keep the guy off the train, he probably wouldn't be allowed to because reasons.
