  • Shoplifter Caught and Arrested

Tuesday, a customer asked to see a manager and since the store director wasn't in the store I paged the assistant store director. A few moments later, a police officer made the same request. I told him that I made the page already and asked if he wanted it made again. He agreed so I paged the assistant store director again.

Eventually, the store director and the coworker that was the FEM that day (actual FEM had the day off) came up with a lady that was caught shoplifting and I directed them towards the police officer. The lady was saying something that I can't remember and she was walked out by the assistant store director, the fill-in FEM, and the police.

I was at self checkout which was near the door so I could see some of what was going on outside. I ended up seeing the lady surrounded by 3 police officers and her arms were behind her back which meant that she had been handcuffed.

The assistant store director ended up having to write a statement and the cart of groceries that the lady attempted to shoplift was retrieved. It turned out to be various items from different departments.

Reminds me of a time years ago when I was pulling cardboard at the front of the store and a woman ran in yelling to get help because there was someone getting beaten up outside.

I ran to the front door to check - and it was just one of our LP guys on the ground with a shoplifter, holding him in a rear naked choke trying to get him to stop resisting so his partner could cuff him.

Biggest idiot who ever tried to bilk us has to be the guy who drove a bright yellow car. The old bill picked him up half an hour later.

I really hope that's meant to be a "rear neck choke".

As long as it wasn't a naked rear choke.

Nope. It's an actual wrestling/martial arts hold.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

In some of the supermarket chains in the area, they installed their own sushi kiosks.
A while back, I turned a corner at the shopping centre and saw the sushi chef running after a guy.
As it turns out, the guy stuffed a pack of sushi down his pants but thankfully the chef caught him.
No police were called, but I hope that sushi was thrown out

I've heard of nyotaimori...maybe he was hoping to achieve that somehow?

Sushi chefs use some VERY sharp knives. I'm imagining the sushi chef chasing the guy down waving such a knife, perhaps not even realizing it was still in his hand.

I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Glad the shoplifter got caught. I hate when crooks get away with their misdeeds.
