    it was super NOT effective...

so i'm now the front desk supervisor of a Big Yellow campgrounds located firmly in the heart of GREEN (if ya catch my drift... wink wink) country in CA... most of em are fine folks... but some of them...aren't. some trashed and smoked-in cabins has led to a relatively new policy (about a month ago) of "absolutely positively NO cash for cabins any more, period end of statement. yes, that means no cash for the security deposits anymore either."

so i had a guy call at 7 minutes to closing time wanting 2 nights stay (i've also been informed that calling at the absolute last second for a cabin is, for whatever reason, a red flag) begging me to stay open another 10 minutes so he could get there. i told him that i was closing down, but if he did indeed get here in 10, i'd let him in and help him, but... to save him and me time, i let him know about the "no cash" policy.
him: oh... well i only have cash right now. i spent all the money on my debit card fixing the transmission on my truck.
me: oh, sorry about the truck. i can't take cash tho. sorry.
him: alright, well i guess i'll be there tomorrow then... i can put money on my card tomorrow... it's around X amount, right?
me: yes, it's x amount for the deposit, and don't forget the y amount for the cabin itself
him: oh, ok. so it's about z amount then? ok. i'll see you tomorrow then. i can sleep in my truck. i've got a big truck.
me: ok then, sir. have a nice evening. *click*

anyone wanna take bets whether i actually see him tomorrow or not?

    edit:

oh yeah. i forgot to mention, he also tried to pull out the "but the other girl told me it was fine"... he got "whoever told you that was wrong, and thank you for pointing it out. i'll be looking into retraining my girls on the proper procedures.

He missed the real opportunity to guilt trip. He could have said that he’d escaped from Paradise with just the clothes on his back, was now homeless, and only had the cash that the nice people from a church had given him.

i also same night had a woman come in looking for a cabin saying that her plumbing broke and her whole house was flooded, and started peeling off the 20s.. of course saying "i've been here many times." was told about the no cash policy, said she was going to go get her husband's card and she'd be back by closing (one hour). she didn't come back.

oh yeah. she'd only been here 3 times. twice with someone else so it wasn't even under her name.

      lol. sheesh
