Hello, welcome back to my auto parts store. I see that you are carrying one of our bags and a clutching a receipt.
Now I understand that the tool that you bought is of no further use to you now that your car repair project is done but we can not take the tool back, yes we have a 45 day return policy but if you read the large posted sign, it explains that part/tool has to be in unopened, unused condition. When you cut open the packaging you rendered the tool unreturnable. Telling me you didn't use it even though the tool still has dirt and grease on it isn't going to make me change my mind. Yes I said if it was defective we would take it back, but changing your story from "I don't need it", to "well, now it's defective" isn't going to make me change my mind.
Oh, now you want to talk to the manager? Not a problem, I am the manager, how may I help you?
Yes the sign does say we loan tools. We have a large collection of loaner tools, these are speciality tools that we tell you about and explain the free loaner program at the time of the transaction. It doesn't mean you can buy any tool we sell, use it and then return it.
Well, now I don't think I can physically do that but thank you for your suggestion for my sex life.
